Associate, Department of OncologyEntityMedical CollegeLocationKarachi, PakistanIntroductionAga Khan University, chartered in 1983 as Pakistans first private international university, is committed to the provision of education, research and health care of international standard relevant to Pakistan and the region. The affiliated Aga Khan University Hospital has well-equipped investigative services and provides state-of-the-art clinical facilities.The Department of Oncology offers comprehensive cancer care services to all patients. The services are provided through multidisciplinary teams. Infrastructure facilities include a daycare setting dedicated to oncology patients. Outpatient facilities include clinics of Medical Oncology, Haematology, Paediatric Oncology, Radiation Oncology, and Palliative Care. The Department has 16 full-time faculty with a strong commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate education and research. Residency programmmes are offered in Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, and Clinical Haematology Oncology, and a fellowship programme in Paediatric Oncology. This is a short-termed grant-funded contractual position for a period until July 31, 2023.ResponsibilitiesYou will be responsible for:

  • providing assistance and support in organising departmental events i.e. conferences/ workshops/ courses/symposium
  • providing assistance to various departmental committees
  • working with other department team members and other stakeholders i.e. Food Services, Finance, Purchase etc.
  • developing and maintaining a strategy for clinical, education, fellowship and research related information and activities in the Department of oncology
  • preparing and editing documents for presentation, SPSS and publications and disseminate the same to the stakeholders
  • taking continuous follow-ups from the support departments for ensuring the completeness of work on time
  • preparing budget sheets and maintain the GVR for grants
  • taking continuous follow-ups from the support departments for ensuring the completeness of work on time
  • making presentations on behalf of the Department, as and when required
  • play a role in research audit and maintaining files and play role in all the quality certifications (ISO, JCIA certification/accreditation) in order to align with the institutional vision/mission.
Requirements:You should have:
  • a Master?s degree, preferably MBA from an HEC recognised or reputable foreign university/institution
  • at least two years management related experience in service industry, preferably in a healthcare institution
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to plan and execute process improvements related to work management
  • ability to handle correspondence and other assignments independently without being micro-managed
  • strong interpersonal skills
  • ability to independently take decisions for operational activities, subject to policies and procedures
  • commitment to ongoing training and development to foster a learning culture within the department; Proficiency in using computer packages especially MS Office and SPSS
  • good organisational skills and must show a knack for being capable of handling many situations at the same time
  • strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks.
