As an international institution, AKU operates on the core principles of quality, relevance, impact and access; and AKU is a model of academic excellence and an agent of social change.Job Role / Responsibilities:You will be responsible to assist in the effective and efficient operations of the risk framework (consisting of people, register, policy, training /awareness and monitoring and reporting) within the University to further strengthen and influence the culture of risk awareness and its management.Specifically, you will be responsible for:

• acting as a valued member of the Risk team and working with colleagues to improve the department?s delivery and impact
• supporting and providing expertise for risk management in academic and health areas
• facilitating and supporting user departments risk assessment. Ensuring the user departments have completed periodic risk assessment and reviews
• understanding applicable accreditation and regulatory requirements
• assisting team projects
• assisting in planning, designing, configuring, and implementing an overall risk management process for the organisation
• performing monthly data backups from risk management system and saving in department records
• quarterly performing user?s validation in coordination with AKU HR and with relevant entities for non-AKU entities
• working with users for developing periodic risk reports, monitoring and following up
• performing data extraction and analysis, discussion with colleagues and reporting to stakeholders
• maintain a training curriculum that is tailored to the audience, seeking way of automating or delivering online
• assisting team in developing the delivery of online risk management training modules
• learning and sharing best practice (relevant and proportionate to AKU) within the team and championing subject matter expertise
• conducting second line reviews/audits of policy and compliance to standards
• maintain a fraud log and validating the data with departments and assisting in periodic reporting to management.

• a Bachelors?/ Masters? degree in a related discipline
• a certification in Risk, this would be an asset
• experience of delivering trainings, this would be an advantage
• at least seven years? of related experience
• a good understanding of risk management
• excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks, focussing on outcomes
• experience of data integrity checking and validation
• excellent information technology skills, including strong working knowledge with Microsoft Excel, comfortable with other MS Office, software solution and databases.
• strong analytical skills and a good eye for detail
• excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills, including negotiation skills, the ability to influence people and report writing leading to strong stakeholder management
• the ability to work in global multidisciplinary teams and build strong working relationships with colleagues and volunteers
• strong administrative, planning, organisational and time management skills
• the ability to manage a varied workload and prioritize effectively and to cope under pressure
• the willingness to travel
• a strong understanding of control environment.
