As an international institution, AKU operates on the core principles of quality, relevance, impact, and access; and AKU is a model of academic excellence and an agent of social change.Job Role / Responsibilities:Reporting to the Manager, Project Management Office you will ensure successful delivery of the project(s) undertaken by AKU IT, through effective facilitation, tracking and reporting. The person assists by advising managers and teams leads on the best use of project management disciplines and approaches and act as the first point of contact for any project related queries. The person assists in the management of key initiatives and projects/programs supporting the strategic objectives of the organization.˙The resource will play a key role in transformation of Project Management Office into a program management office; is expected to upgrade the office for monitoring budgets, tracking risks, logging project hours on a centralized project management software.Specifically, you will be responsible for;

  • successful completion of IT projects and effective project planning
  • assisting managers in applying project management methodology and enforcing project standards
  • identifying opportunities for improvement and making constructive suggestions for changes
  • assisting managers in applying program management methodology and enforcing program management standards
  • upgrading the reporting to match P3M3 methodology
  • training the internal project managers on project and program management methodology.
Eligibility Criteria / Requirements:You should have:
  • a Bachelors or a Master?s degree in Business Administration or Computer Engineering/Systems or Computer Science.
  • a certification in Project management (PMP or a Prince 2 Practitioner)
  • at least five years of experience (minimum three years in project management)
  • the ability to build effective working relationships across wide range of teams and functions
  • good written and verbal communication skills
  • proficiency in computer software packages (MS Office-Word, Excel, PowerPoint and MS Project)
  • good information analysis skills and attention to detail.
