Job Description

JOB PURPOSE: Unilever recognizes Packaging as an important part of the product mix. Not only does it fulfil a very important functional role, to contain, protect and inform, but also as the first ?touchpoint? with the consumer, it must engage the consumer, reflecting the brand proposition, and delivering a delightful experience. Moreover, to ensure robustness and technical performance of new packaging before it is placed on the marketplace and involves both design and technical innovation in packaging. This role is based within Pakistan Beauty & Wellbeing business and will be responsible for managing and deliver packaging solution for Skin Care category. This person will be responsible to provide/deliver superior packaging innovations, value (cost) efficient packaging solutions & driving the Unilever packaging sustainability solution improving Unilever Pakistan?s packaging footprint.MAIN ACCOUNTABILTIIES:

• Lead the design and development of structural packaging components (primary, secondary, tertiary...etc.). Deliver packaging which meets the required quality and technical standards, and delights the consumer and builds brand love, through using Unilever?s Packaging Excellence best practices / One Unilever Packaging Process (1UPP)

• Scoping (help to set up solid plans & packaging action standards) of packaging solutions, establish and follow project schedules, implement packaging design solutions in manufacturing unit, execute & validate of new packaging component, develop packaging based on existing concept, and liaise with selected suppliers in development and project work.
• Delivers packaging innovation for category and would be a key member of the project teams. Must be able to manage multiple projects & tight timelines, ensuring packaging is fit for purpose as well as delivering innovative solutions which delight consumers and are line with Unilever sustainability ambition.
• Identify and implement potential cost saving activities across the category packaging portfolio.
• Being responsive to business environment, prepare and develop supplier technical brief where required, working closely with supplier. Ensure new packaging are sufficiently validated through appropriate testing protocol, develop new ones if necessary. Must have ability to interpret and act on the result to draw right conclusions and make appropriate recommendation to business team.
• Develop strong external eco-system with suppliers and packaging industry experts, maintain effective relationships with packaging suppliers to deliver cost effective and new technology solutions
• Responsible for moulds development and qualification to ensure packaging fit for purpose
• Manage good technical data records ? project data, specifications, test results
• Actively influence stakeholders and collaborate with cross functional teams to drive project from concept, development, feasibility assessment and validation testing of pack platforms identified
• Manage and deliver sustainability projects in line with business agenda
• Evaluating packaging basis consumers & customer?s needs, new packaging technologies and competitors in the market
• Leading execution of tests & trials at laboratory or full factory scale and reporting of test & trial outcomes. Evaluate and contribute to risk assessment and executing risk management plans for projects
• Supporting related company functions to solve packaging related Supply Chain manufacturing issues, Quality issues and consumer complaints. Likewise, briefing related teams to deliver packaging specifications appropriate to brand positioning, Supply Chain, and supplier limitations in the local market

• To propose and create content of technical specifications and BOM creation for packaging components in SAP PLM and interfacing between MM and PP Module respectively. Develop expert level understanding and usage of SAP PLM, BPM, Teamcenter/Active Workspace, CAD & CAPESoftware.
• Comply with the Unilever Code of Business Principles and all SHE and QA policies, including the support of product claims, risk management and environmental awareness.

EXPERIENCE & KEY SKILLS:

• University degree in Engineering or Science; preferably Mechanical / Industrial & Manufacturing / Chemical / Polymer disciplines.
• Minimum 3 - 4 years? experience in R&D Packaging Development or relevant Technical Supply Chain functions or Packaging Industry experience
• Knowledge and technical competence about packaging technologies - corrugated, cartons, rigids & flexible packaging, and fabrication of molds
• Must have flexibility and ability to manage changes in projects
• Must have functional computer skills, and will be expected to work on Packaging Development & Technical systems, common Business Tools and Databases, SAP MM & PP

• Good communication skill and teamwork, Business partner mindset
• Leadership capability, business acumen and ownership mentality with strong orientation to deliver results.
