The Design Engineer shall have Middle East experience mainly in Power Generation plants, Transmission and Distribution networks (Substations, OHL and Cables) in an Electricity Utility industry.A typical week would include:Shall study the existing Power Network (132/33/11kV) arrangement and the required reinforcements, by conducting necessary technical and economic evaluation of possible options to overcome the need of the project. The options may include the renewable system (Wind and Solar) interconnection.To participate in the development and on-going management of Utility?s Power system planning process in accordance with the Company?s license conditions.Analyse and comply with the planning standards and other regulatory authority requirements.Provide expert planning advice and guidance as requested by various stakeholders, including the regulatory AuthorityWork closely with operations team to plan the required capacity routine and outage maintenance and project activities.Interpret and/or modify standards and guidelines for recommendation for improvement of existing planning processes and procedures.Prepare and recommend connection terms and conditions for bulk customers connecting to the Utility systemReview and recommend the terms for system use and develop the system to facilitate connectionsReview and recommend for approval the technical scope of work for tender documents if requiredEnsure that all information requests from the Authority are met on a timely basisPrepare written and verbal reports from time to time on system planning mattersSupport system planning advice and guidance to external groups and key stakeholders from time to timeAttend site visits to power stations, substations, OHL and Cable networks, factory acceptance tests activities and prepare the recommendations and advicesliaise with other consultants and other key stakeholders as neededComply with the asset management system and associated standards and proceduresDevelop and maintain system planning models tailored for a Utility and provide an annual forecast of the demand and supply for electricity Utility systemPrepare the company capability statementPrepare pre-investment appraisals documents and technical studies for projects as requiredTo write Pre-investment Appraisal Documents (PIADs) Procedure for capital projects. This shall cover all the project categories under power generation, water desalination and Power Networks (132/33/11 kV) with Substations, OHLs and Cables.Prepare the Technical data for the company business plan and Build and simulate the electrical system in the power system softwareIssue weekly and monthly progress report for the scope of consultancy services including design and tendering activities. For each project a clear plan of work to be carried out in a format that agreed with Client. (each task with maximum duration and responsible person
