Job Description

Roles in this level have prime responsibility for carrying out the execution of various on-going maintenance activities related to the rotating machinery equipment by following sound engineering principles and practices. The role holder support and monitor the maintenance activities in coordination with the Support Engineering Team. Their primary responsibility is daily maintenance and upkeep of plant under responsibility and execution of maintenance jobs as per the plan. They will take a leading role in execution of corrective actions based on FMEA studies recommended by the support group. They are also responsible for the safety & quality of maintenance work carried out in their area. They have a very significant role in carrying out proper planning and execution of maintenance activities and keep the unforeseen shutdowns in plant to a minimum and execute all the jobs in the shortest possible time. They have a very significant role in carrying out proper planning and execution of maintenance activities during planned shut downs. They act as a link between the Support Engineers and the end users in execution of the maintenance activities. They administer and follow-up Management systems and participate in improvement projects and RCA studies. They must ensure that all activities are carried out in compliance with QAFCO?s Occupational Health, Quality, Safety and Environment procedures.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:? Planning, prioritise, execute and monitor maintenance activities within their area of work to ensure that these are carried out with sound engineering principles and practices.? Daily maintenance and upkeep of plant under responsibility.? Keep the unforeseen shutdowns in plant to a minimum and execute all the jobs in the shortest possible time.? Planning and execution of maintenance activities during planned shut downs within stipulated time frame.? Execute the corrective actions based on the recommendation given by the Support Engineering group Inspectors or Head of section.? Supervise teams of Lead technicians assigned to various disciplines/ areas of work, carrying out maintenance activities to ensure continuous optimum operating condition of plant, equipment and systems and that all work meets quality assurance standards.? Implement plans for periodic, preventive and corrective maintenance activities that ensure continuing and optimum production reliability and preservation of asset value.? Use Engineering principles to ensure that the plant condition is stable and at the same time identify problem areas on equipment and systems wherein thorough analysis and troubleshooting is required to be done and the same is referred to the Engineering team for necessary action. ? Provide superiors with work status reports to enable effective monitoring of overall progress against agreed plans. ? Implement actions at plant level and provide feedback.? Provide advice on completion of work verbally or completing worksheets.? Assess and prioritise all scheduled activities in co-ordination with end-users to ensure minimal process downtime and allocate appropriate resources to achieve cost-effectiveness.? Apply technical expertise for the resolution of problems referred by Lead Technicians ensuring they benefit from the experience.? Refer details of the nature and occurrence of problems escalated by Lead Technicians to Support Engineering group to enable analysis, determination of root-causes and formulation of effective remedial action.? Review inputs for development of group operating budget ensuring adequate provision has been made for the funding of all anticipated activities. Monitor performance against approved levels to ensure effective cost control.? Co-ordinate with Lead Technicians and end-users to ensure spares and materials are available for schedule activities and that cost-effective replenishment levels are maintained.? Ensure that all work permits and toolbox meetings are in compliance with QAFCO safety requirements ? Review of work requests to ensure correct activities are undertaken.? Use the JSA as per the procedures for critical jobs? Participate in the studies, investigation, and improvement projects related to improvement of QAFCO?s plants, products, systems and equipment.? Motivate, develop and appraise performance of employees under area of responsibility in order to achieve improved performance and individual contribution. Plan and participate in the development of nationals.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:Experience in performance monitoring, preventive maintenance, repair, overhaul and troubleshooting of rotating equipment (steam turbine, gas turbine, centrifugal/ reciprocating compressors and pumps) and its auxiliaries is compulsory.
