Job Description

A hydrology engineer, or hydrologist, is usually a civil or environmental engineer who specializes in studying the effect of wadis/streams on planning areas and provides the required solutions.Some of the specific responsibilities for this job include:

  • Perform the metrological studies and analysis of rainfall data.
  • Carry out topographic study and delineation of catchment areas and wadi paths.
  • Calculation of runoff quantities (peak discharge and hydrograph) using computer software (HEC-HMS).
  • Modeling of Dams.
  • Two-dimensional hydraulic simulation for floodplain using HEC-RAS (1D/2D).
  • Hydraulic design of open channels / culverts / collection ponds / Dikes.
  • Design longitudinal profile for open channels.
  • Pond grading.
  • Coordination with other disciplines engineers.
  • Prepare reports / presentations.
  • Preparation of BOQs, specification, and engineering details for flood mitigation structures.
