Plan and Supervise vessel, yard, examination and CFS planning considering commercial and
operational factors by ensuring compliance with safety and discipline.Key Accountabilities:
Co-ordinate with planning department in defining strategy and procedures for vessel, yard & examination planning
Provide inputs to ascertain resource requirements ? operations employees during shift, number of equipment
Ensure effective coordination with Agent Maritime for receipt of vessel planning data (EDI / Baplie) for incoming vessel
Ensure that existing yard location is analysed by the vessel planners before assigning stowage locations to containers in the vessel
Analyze the stowage plan prepared by the vessel planner and ensure that it is approved by the Chief Officer of the vessel. Ensure strict adherence to protocols for stowage approvals from the Chief Officer
Co-ordinate with vessel and line agents to resolve discrepancies in case of out of list containers, or those containers not listed in the bay plan
Ascertain reasons for deviations during stowage operations like rambling and restows
Ensure vessel work program is monitored and modified based on planned and real time information like breakdowns etc.
Ensure the yard plan is completed well in advance before the vessel berths
Ensure that all the vessel and yard particulars are updated real time into the system
Assist in defining norms for sequencing crane operations
Define norms for vessel planning under different situations
Identify potential clashes in the crane program and resolve in coordination with the vessel planner and vessel operations supervisor
Ensure yard planning is effectively managed for discharging and loading of containers, movement of containers within the terminal, and delivery and receiving of containers from the gate
Ensure stacking principles are followed in assigning locations to containers
Ensure yard inventory is verified to maintain accuracy of information
Ensure missing containers are identified on time
Ensure functions/ activities related to cargo control ? Input, output, vessel summary for invoicing are prepared accurately and on-time
Analyze critical parameters like operations productivity, key reasons for delay, vessel turnaround time, truck turnaround time, etc.
Identify planners with training needs and communicate the same to the planning manager.
Liaise with vessel and line agents for relevant information
Propose areas for operational improvement, system automation and up-gradation
Ensure effective inter departmental communication for vessel and yard operations
Define the prime routing and expert decking norms into the system
Assist in implementing the prime routing and expert decking function
Assist in dealing with exceptions that occur in the yard / system and resolving them effectively
Assist in performing periodical scheduled performance review with reporting personnel
Implement, and monitor the full integration and usage of the expert decking and prime routing modules
Evaluate each operation process periodically and propose if changes required to improve safety and efficiency
Ensure smart stacking and dynamic yard utilization
Monitor cargo flow and communicate to the liners to improve turnover and to clear back lock
Implement and monitor Yard strategy, fine-tune to manage the surge and slack
Complies with the guidelines from the direct manager and ensures implementation
Optimizing Quay and yard operation to achieve set KPI
