Job Description

A public transit planner is responsible for developing and implementing efficient transportation systems to meet the needs of the public in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. This role involves analyzing transportation data, conducting research, and designing transportation systems that prioritize safety, accessibility, and sustainability. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of urban planning principles, transportation engineering, and traffic management. They should also possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders.Responsibilities:

  1. Analyze transportation data, including traffic patterns, population demographics, and public transit usage
  2. Conduct research on best practices for transportation planning and design
  3. Collaborate with stakeholders, including government agencies, community organizations, and transportation operators
  4. Develop transportation plans and policies that promote safety, accessibility, and sustainability
  5. Create and update transit schedules and routes to optimize efficiency and meet the needs of the public
  6. Design and implement improvements to public transportation infrastructure, such as bus stops, train stations, and bike lanes
  7. Evaluate the effectiveness of transportation systems and recommend changes or enhancements
  8. Stay informed about emerging trends and technologies in transportation planning
  9. Prepare reports and presentations to communicate transportation plans and proposals to stakeholders
Preferred Candidate:
  1. Bachelors degree in urban planning, civil engineering, or a related field
  2. Minimum of 3 years of experience in transportation planning or a similar role
  3. Strong knowledge of urban planning principles, transportation engineering, and traffic management
  4. Proficiency in GIS software and other transportation modeling tools
  5. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  6. Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders from diverse backgrounds
  7. Knowledge of local transportation regulations and policies
  8. Strong communication and presentation skills
  9. Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
