Job Description

Overview / ResponsibilitiesWood is currently recruiting for a Welding Inspector with extensive experience in the oil and gas petrochemical industry.Duties will include the following:

  • Monitor activities that will assure that the work is performed as required by the contract and meets or exceeds the required qualities
  • Conduct regular surveillance of site work against documented processes
  • Conduct review of workpack documentation and validate test data as meeting specified requirements and/or within tolerance
  • Provide guidance on welding quality requirements to promote self-assessment of activities and reduce reliance on inspection personnel to identify potential concerns
  • Ensuring incorporated materials on projects are in compliance with the plans and specifications.
  • Attend as the Company nominated representative for welding discipline witness and monitor intervention points on Site Construction ITPs
  • Produce formal reports of inspection carried out on the site
  • Monitor contractor supervision of onsite and off-site fabrication to ensure process controls are maintained.
  • Liaise with client and contractor quality personnel to ensure requirements for client representation at hold, witness and test points are understood.
  • Provide quality representation at tool box talks and promote right first time approach
  • Normal welding inspection duties
Skills / Qualifications
  • Welding inspectors shall be suitably experienced with a trade or higher qualification in a related discipline and conversant with the applicable codes for piping, structural and pressure vessel construction and certification
  • Inspectors shall have as a minimum recognition as an inspector through an organisation such as CSWIP 3.1 or 3.2, American Welding Society (AWS) or equivalent
  • They will prove at least 5 years inspection experience in an oil and gas facility and be able to prepare concise, legible reports of activities conducted
