Job Title: Security GuardFunction: Guard of NP guesthouse/officeLocation: Zummar, IraqAdministrative Line Manager:Team LeaderABOUT USNonviolent Peaceforce (NP) is a dynamic, international non-governmental organization. We work to reduce violence and protect civilians in countries affected by violent conflict and its aftermath through the implementation of unarmed civilian protection programming. NP implements programming through the deployment of civilian protection teams to the field and is continuing to scale up to meet the growing needs in the communities we serve. Programming is founded on unarmed civilian protection and is thematically focused on protection in displacement, child protection, gender-based violence protection, and inter-communal violence reduction.JOB PURPOSETo protect property and personnel, while also participating in team meetings concerning security and general context updates.KEY OBJECTIVES/RESPONSIBILITIESCommitment to NP principles

  • Demonstrate a commitment to Nonviolent Peaceforces (NP) mandate and principles
  • Maintain a positive image of the organization both during and outside of scheduled hours
  • Maintain a professional and welcoming attitude to all members of the community
Protection and security
  • Provide unarmed protection and security for NP teams and NP property
  • Monitor the security situation in the community
  • Assist the Team leader in responding to any security or safety incident, such as fire, environmental damage, attacks, external threats
  • Ensure all visitors to the NP premises are unarmed
  • Ensure NP vehicles remain secure
Other
  • Perform any other work duties assigned by the Team leader

  • Situational awareness and diligence (ensuring all security protocols are adhered to)
  • Ability to manage information with confidentiality
Interpersonal:
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and community members
  • Genuine commitment and interest in the well-being of the community
  • Ability to help de-escalate potentially violent situations
