Job Description

The Local Government Global Industry Unit is hiring a Director of Software Development to lead our Public Safety Suite development team in India. Our product suite delivers an innovative, cloud native, transformative experience to the first responder community, leveraging the best Oracle has to offer for this essential industry. In this role you will lead a cross functional team of developers who build, run and operate the product suite. This is a key role in on the Public Safety Suite and an opportunity to participate in our growth and expansion as we bring our services to market. Were looking for a leader who:

  • Brings 10+ years of experience managing software developers and teams, with a strong software development background
  • Brings a background in developing cloud native services at scale
  • Is a skilled collaborator, capable of driving objectives through collaboration across teams and roles in the organization
  • Builds highly capable, committed teams who deliver for the business
  • Has experience with our tech stack, including (but not limited to) Kubernetes, Oracle Database, Java, Spring Boot, API development, Oracle APEX, React/Preact, both Kotlin and Swift, with strong knowledge of PL/SQL being a plus
  • Has strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, operating systems and distributed system fundamentals
  • If experienced with service delivery, managing on-call schedules, supporting 24x7 availability of cloud services
  • Has experience with event based architectures
  • Has experience with DevOps processes and procedures including CI/CD
  • Has experience working with remote teams in Agile frameworks
  • Is comfortable with project collaboration tools, especially Jira and Confluence
  • Has experience with managing on-call rotations and proactive technical support of cloud services
Day to day, youll:
  • Collaborate across service teams to build, run and operate the Public Safety Suite
  • Lead day to day development and operations for the Public Safety Suite team in Indis
  • Collaborate with peers in development, product, implementation and support to deliver the highest quality experience to customers, every day
  • Serve as a member of the technical management team, contributing to the improvement of practices and processes on the development team
