Caring for all patients on dialysis (hemodialysis or PD) and performing all forms of dialytic therapy (hemodialysis, hem perfusion, hemofiltration, ultrafiltration, peritoneal dialysis and CAPD;
Reviewing/performing histories and physical examinations conducted by Registrars and Specialists, planning patient work-ups and deciding on appropriate treatment;
Receives referrals and consultations from other disciplines, according to his/her specialty;
Responsible for directing, planning, managing, and coordinating operations for patient care activities;
Handles administrative and operational matters relating to the activities of the department and consults with the Head of the Department as required;
Responsible to provide the highest quality of service to the patients under his/her care within the resources provided by the program;
Provides overall responsibility for all medical in-patients, outpatients and emergencies. Conducts regular ward rounds on all patients;
Ensures implementation of the Ministry of Health regulations, the Hospital Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations and the Emergency Room Department Policy and Guidelines;
Participates in providing education and support for all junior staff in the department and supports continuing medical education, providing teaching materials as part of the professional development of the staff.
