Job Description

Roles & ResponsibilitiesWe are looking for an experienced QA/QC Engineer to join our high-rise building construction projects. The QA/QC Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that construction activities, materials, workmanship, and completed works comply with approved drawings, project specifications, contract requirements, applicable building codes, and quality standards.The role will cover quality assurance, quality control, material inspections, structural and architectural inspections, MEP coordination, testing, documentation, NCR management, and project handover.Key Responsibilities1. Quality AssuranceDevelop, implement, and maintain the Project Quality Plan (PQP).Prepare and maintain Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) for project activities.Review method statements, work procedures, and quality requirements.Ensure compliance with project specifications, contract requirements, approved drawings, and applicable codes and standards.Conduct internal quality audits and monitor implementation of the Quality Management System (QMS).Conduct quality awareness and training sessions for site personnel.Identify potential quality risks and implement preventive measures to avoid defects and rework.2. Quality Control & Site InspectionsConduct inspections before, during, and after construction activities.Verify that all works comply with approved shop drawings, specifications, and project requirements.Carry out stage inspections for structural, architectural, finishing, and other construction activities.Coordinate inspections with consultants, clients, and relevant project teams.Witness required testing activities and ensure results meet specified requirements.Identify quality issues and ensure corrective actions are implemented.3. Material Inspection & ControlInspect incoming construction materials and verify compliance with approved material submittals.Check manufacturer certificates, test certificates, and other required documentation.Ensure only approved materials are used on the project.Raise concerns and initiate rejection of non-conforming materials where required.Inspect materials including concrete, reinforcement steel, structural steel, waterproofing materials, masonry blocks, tiles, paint, aluminum, glass, fire-rated materials, and other construction products.4. Structural Works InspectionInspect and verify the quality of:Excavation and foundation worksReinforcement and formworkEmbedded itemsConcrete pouring and curingColumns, beams, slabs, and shear wallsCore walls and lift shaftsStaircasesRoof structuresOther structural elements5. Concrete Quality ControlVerify approved concrete mix designs before use.Inspect reinforcement and formwork before concrete casting.Check formwork dimensions, levels, and alignment.Witness concrete slump tests and cube sampling.Monitor concrete placement, vibration, and curing.Review laboratory test results and ensure compliance with project requirements.Maintain complete records of concrete testing and inspection activities.6. Architectural & Finishing WorksInspect and monitor the quality of:BlockworkPlasteringWaterproofingScreedingTilingMarble installationPaintingFalse ceilingsDoors and windowsFa‡ade worksRoofingSealantsFlooring and other finishing works7. MEP Quality CoordinationCoordinate quality inspections for:Electrical conduits and embedded servicesPlumbing sleeves and pipeworkHVAC openings and installationsFire protection systemsEmbedded pipesCable traysBuilder's work requirementsMEP works prior to concrete casting and other critical construction activities8. Inspection Requests & Consultant CoordinationPrepare and submit Inspection Requests (IRs) in accordance with project requirements.Coordinate inspections with consultants and client representatives.Address and close inspection comments within agreed timelines.Maintain complete inspection records and supporting documentation.Coordinate with site teams to ensure works are ready for inspection.9. Testing & CommissioningCoordinate and witness required testing activities, including:Concrete compressive strength testingReinforcement testingWaterproofing testsField density testsPull-out testsFire-stopping inspectionsFunctional testing of MEP systemsFinal testing and commissioning activities10. NCR & Corrective Action ManagementIdentify and raise Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for non-compliant works.Investigate the root causes of quality issues.Recommend corrective and preventive actions.Coordinate with responsible teams to implement corrective actions.Verify completion and effectiveness of corrective actions.Close NCRs after successful verification and approval.11. Quality Documentation & ReportingMaintain accurate and up-to-date quality records, including:Project Quality PlansInspection and Test PlansMethod StatementsMaterial Approval Requests (MARs)Material Inspection Requests (MIRs)Inspection Requests (IRs)Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs)Site Observation Reports (SORs)Requests for Information (RFIs)Test ReportsCalibration CertificatesDaily Inspection ReportsAs-built quality recordsSnag listsQuality dossiersProject handover documentation12. CoordinationWork closely with:Project ManagerConstruction ManagerSite EngineersConsultantsClient representativesMEP EngineersSurveyorsMaterial suppliersTesting laboratoriesSubcontractorsSafety officersParticipate in quality meetings, coordination meetings, technical discussions, and site inspections as required.13. Handover & Project Close-OutPrepare and monitor snag and punch lists.Verify completion of corrective and outstanding works.Conduct final quality inspections.Compile complete quality dossiers and handover documentation.Ensure all inspection and testing records are properly closed.Support project completion, handover, and occupancy certification requirements where applicable.Desired Candidate ProfileBachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related discipline.5+ years of experience in QA/QC within the building construction industry.Experience in high-rise building projects is highly preferred.UAE/GCC construction experience is an advantage.Strong experience in structural, architectural, finishing, and MEP quality coordination.Good knowledge of construction materials, concrete technology, testing, inspection procedures, and construction methodologies.Experience coordinating inspections with consultants and clients.
