The Technical Manager & the Technical Superintendents are responsible for the safe operation of ships and ships personnel under full management, assigned to him by the Management. They are responsible for the individual implementation and maintenance of all technical requirements and support for the ships, and the compliance with all international, administration and classification regulations, rules and codes.
They are committed to and maintaining the companys safety management?system onboard and ashore, to comply with the codes and standards adopted
Responsibilities:
Taking care of the daily technical problems and replying to the vessels with technical advice
Receiving reports of defects of equipment and replying to the vessels with information on which action is to be taken
Contacting the manufacturers of equipment for technical advice and instructing the vessels accordingly
Arranging the immediate supply of urgently needed spare parts.
Checking the orders from the vessels and passing them to the purchasing officer for supply
Arranging immediate support by subcontractors or workshops in case of need
Taking care that all technical information?and documentation?of the equipment onboard and in the office is up to date
Keeping the classification and flag state records of the vessels updated
Planning major repairs and dry-docking in co-operation with the vessels command
Visiting the vessels frequently and reporting to the Company the results of the visit and their impression about the condition
Preparation of plans and instructions for key shipboard operations together with the DPA
Authorities:
Carrying out safety inspections onboard the vessels as well as general inspections
Receiving most support from the vessels staff while inspections are being carried out
Entering all areas of the vessels if the nature of the inspection requires it
Viewing all vessels documents and making copies if necessary
Requesting training, if required for their competence
Issuing non-conformance notes
Giving instructions to the crew members concerning maintenance,?safety, repairs etc.
