Job Description

Job Tasks / ResponsibilitiesConstruction Engineering:

• ?Review of shop drawings, material submittals, method statement, ITPs, mock-ups, test reports, as-built drawings and operation manual specified and in accordance within project specification, preferred vendor list in a timely manner.
• ?Improve the work procedures and construction methods by reviewing and approving method statement in accordance with the project specifications, local and international standards.
• ?Excellent design and drafting skills and proficiency with computer-aided design (CAD)
• ?Adopting plans according to circumstances and resolving any problems that may arise during construction
• ?Visit work sites to establish existing conditions. Supports Senior Architectural Engineer with review, applicability of existing drawings, standards / specifications and recommends appropriate changes.
• Provide technical support to projects on design related matters during construction, procurement, fabrication, testing, installation and commissioning stages of projects, which often involves site visits. ?
• Coordination Management
• ?Carryout the duties and responsibilities for assisting Senior Architectural Engineer in all areas of work covered by the Architectural discipline for building and infrastructure projects. A proven ability to identify and formulate practical solutions to the spectrum of architectural issues is essential.
• ?Demonstrate a practical knowledge of building related disciplines, as well as the ability to coordinate them as required. Familiar with major state of the art and internationally recognized building / construction technologies and materials. Ability to prepare or collaborate in and to assist in their / construction stage, if necessary.
• ?Collaborate with Senior Architectural Engineer in providing Projects with technical content of project development and execution plans including defining design and construction criteria and procurement strategies for critical items.
• ?Working closely with a team of other professionals such as building service engineers, construction managers, quantity surveyors and architectural technologists.
• ?Travelling regularly to building sites, proposed locations and client meetings.

Continuous ImprovementKeep abreast of current technology and state-of-the-art equipment and activities, by reading various trade journals/ publications, by meeting vendor representatives. Keep abreast of current regulations of local and national authorities.?Take part in technology development reviews to disseminate latest relevant technologies and technical reviews, at key stages of project execution and of project definition, if necessary. ?Policies, Systems, Processes?& Procedures?Recommend improvements to departmental procedure and direct the implementation of instructions and controls so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service.Quality, Health, Safety, & Environment

• ?Ensure that all relevant quality, health, safety and environmental management procedures are adhered to for the safety of employees.
• ?Monitoring construction materials and construction quality, attend factory/ fabricator shop, and lab/ site tests (load test, infiltration) within the site activities in accordance with the project specification and approved method statement to achieve and maintain the best quality.
• Follow on the H.S.S.E to achieve a safe work place without accidents and lost time.
• Proactive supervision of works and coordination with the main contractor to ensure the optimum quality and reducing the issuance of NCR?s and SDR?s.
• ?Monitor closure of NCR?s, SDR?s in accordance with the approved corrective method statement.
• ?Verify the adequacy of designs produced by others, to ensure fitness for purpose and technical quality, in terms of providing safe / environmentally acceptable facilities, in compliance with the codes, standards, principles, practices and specifications. Verify that the building or facilities, being designed, are of adequate dimensions to house all the equipment to be installed therein including RAMS compliance.

MIS and Reports

• ?Participate when required in the preparation of departmental MIS statements and reports timely and accurately to meet ASTAD and department?s requirements, policies and standards.
• ?Writing and presenting reports, proposals, applications and contracts
• ?Provide specific experience in the review of construction documents and specification of various ranges of interior features, system and custom furniture, fixtures, finishes, color selection and lighting effects for various projects including space planning, circulation, fit outs material and furniture.
• ?Contribute to the updating of discipline engineering standards, specifications and corporate philosophies.

Related Assignments

• ?Perform other related duties or assignments as directed.
• ?Deputize for Senior Architectural Engineer and when required.
• ?Support, Senior Architectural Engineer, for inspection of contractor, consulting engineers and vendor premises and witness factory/ site acceptance tests, as required.
• ?Participate as a member of the Health, Safety & Environment review team.

Qualifications and Knowledge:?B.Arch. degree (minimum).?Preference will be given to membership and / or registration with an internationally recognized architectural body.Possess excellent English language and communication skills.Experience:Minimum 8 year?s broad based experience in large building projects, with interdisciplinary coordination responsibilities and ability to identify and formulate practical solutions to the spectrum of architectural issues.Experience in both design and construction works, prepare scope of works and specifications writing, with proven knowledge in reviewing and recommending a large range of building materials, is essential.Must be fully experienced in developing and controlling large building projects through all stages from to commissioning and completion.
