Quality Inspector (Coating)

Job Description

Job Overview:Determine product conformity to customer specification through independent inspection and tests in accordance with the Project Quality Plan. Identify non-conformity for recertifications and assure final resolution. Liaise with QC Supervisor, Construction Quality Manager, Production Supervisor, Senior Principal Certification Tech, Discipline engineer, Project Engineer, Operations Engineer, Field Engineer, Certifying Authority, Customer.Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Appraise product quality in accordance with the Project Quality Plan and Inspection & Test Plan and determine conformity and non-conformity. All inspection results need to be documented and if non- conformity exists, documentation shall be raised to establish corrective action.
• Provide interpretation of applicable code specifications and customer requirements. Any deviation, clarification and waivers are to be documented through the Site Query System.
• Coordinate interface with Operations, Certifying Authority, Client, Job Sharing personnel and subcontractor assuring conformity to project specifications.
• Perform field inspections of fitting, welding, painting, electrical and instrumentation in accordance with project specifications and scope of work as noted within the Project Quality Plan/I.T.P.s.
• Exercise proactive approach in prevention of non-conformance by interaction with Production, Engineers and Management personnel.
• Conduct internal audits to assess the effectiveness of Quality System outlined in Project Quality Plan/I.T.P
• Liaise with customer representatives ensuring product conformity and stage release for each activity denoted within the Project Quality Plan/ITP
• Confirm by effective audit and surveillance, adherence to applicable procedures and plans.
• Perform surveillance checks on welding consumable storage and handling
• Perform surveillance checks on material storage and preservation

Essential Qualifications and Education:

• 3 years Mechanical/Electrical/Instrumentation Engineering degree/Diploma or equivalent.
• 5+ years quality control or related experience on welding, painting, material inspection, electrical and instrumentation.
• AWS/CSWIP, NACE Qualification, Complex Ex01-04 qualification
• Proficient in reading, writing and speaking the English language.
• Demonstrated thorough knowledge and understanding of the 2015 version of ISO 9001 QMS requirements, engineering discipline drawings, standards, material specifications, construction methods and QC inspection and test procedures.
• Currently certified by either (1) NACE/SSPC or (2) BGAS, or (3) an approved equivalent
• certification level and scheme.
• Direct work experience and demonstrated thorough knowledge of engineering codes and standards with welding and testing requirements required for the WORK, such as ANSI/ASME B31.3, B31.4 & B31.8; ASME BPVC (Sections V and IX); API 620, API 650 and AWS D1.1.

Preferred Qualifications and Education:

• High school diploma with six (6) or more years of direct work experience, in the specific engineering discipline(s), performing QC inspection and testing of industrial project materials, equipment, systems and facilities under construction and Pre-Commissioning. OR
• Three (3) or more years of direct work experience performing QC inspection and testing related to the scope of work (e.g., industrial oil and gas production or petrochemical projects)
