Monitor patients vital signs such as heart rate, blood pressure, and breathing rate during exams
Prepare equipment and supplies for examinations such as x-rays, electrocardiograms (EKGs), and pulmonary function tests (PFTs)
Administer medications for various conditions, including asthma attacks, chronic bronchitis, emphysema, pneumonia, tuberculosis, and asthma
Teach patients about their condition, how to manage it, and how to cope with the stress of living with a chronic disease
Conduct diagnostic tests such as chest X-rays or sputum cultures to identify the cause of illness
Educate patients about their condition and treatments they are receiving
Record patients medical histories and physical exam findings in their files to track their progress over time
Observe patients during examinations to ensure that they are safe and comfortable
Administer breathing tests such as spirometry to measure lung function
