Job Description

We are currently seeking a Farm Operations Director/ GM for our agriculture division. The Farm Director will evaluate, plan, organize, and manage all farming and harvesting operations. He will provide leadership and coordination of general farming administration, accounting, budgeting, and planning of our continued development and eventual farming and harvesting of assigned areas for our selected crops both external and in green houses.REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: The Farm Operations Director/ GM will report directly to the COO.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To develop and implement an innovative and ambitious Agriculture strategy with a clear focus towards scaling up the operations. The Director will be responsible for overseeing quality of implementation (time, budget and deliverables) of Agriculture programmes. Resource mobilization and relationship management with main vendors, partners, including securing funding at a multi-level for development of Agriculture business. Ensuring outstanding results and a high level of quality for our Agriculture programmes by Monitoring and steering the financial performance of the Agriculture sector.Other responsibilities include:

  • Prepare strategic plans, operational planning and schedules of farm activities
  • Prepare financial and operational reports, evaluates financial statements and makes budget proposals
  • Manage the marketing and sale of products produced
  • Recruit, train and manage quality and effective farm labor and/or contracting services for farming and harvesting operations;
  • Oversee the continued planting and development of assigned areas of crops within green houses and in the external assigned land.
  • Direct all activities necessary to operate and support our farm at maximum efficiency;
  • Direct and coordinate farm development, irrigation, application/pest management, pruning, harvesting, and training to maximize premium quality and yield of crop;
  • Effectiveness and efficiency of employees and farm labor contractor services within established budgets;
  • Contribute towards profitability and growth of the Company;
  • Work with other departments within the company?s centralized services and outside services to optimize farming operations;
  • Manage chemical applications
  • Manage maintenance, repair, and replacement of all farming structures, equipment, and supplies;
  • Manage harvest intervals through a packaging house
  • Ensure compliance with all local regulations and applicable laws; and,
  • Ensure practices and policies, including food safety and employee safety protocols are enforced and abided by you and your supervisory team at all times.
