Job Description

Responsibility for the implementation, monitoring, maintenance and enhancement of the Bank?s database management system/s, in addition to coordinating changes, updates and upgrades as appropriate. Ensure that strict access and data integrity guidelines and policies are deployed logically and that all databases are performing at maximum efficiency to the business.FINANCIAL? Appropriately define and design databases and database management systems to ensure that the corresponding application system may process data accurately and the database delivers appropriately to address the business need? Research and recommend current and new product enhancements, updates and upgrades to related systems, hardware and sizing needs based on the Bank?s strategy and requirements?CUSTOMER? Offer a professional, friendly, efficient and effective customer service to all employees on aconsistent basis? Build and maintain strong and effective relationships across all IT departments to furtherINTERNAL? Implement database/s definition controls, access controls, update controls, concurrency controls, and security controls in accordance with the Bank?s Information Technology policies and procedures, standards, and guidelines? Analyze user and systems development requirements and implement changes as appropriate by applying and installing patches, enhancements and new functions and applications? Monitor database/s usage, collect performance statistics and tune the database to ensureperformance optimization (including required capacity)? Perform testing of the database/s on a regular basis to ensure that file space is available and that the data structure defined will support the needs of the application systems using these? Constantly maintain and implement backup and recovery procedures for the database as well as perform test restorations in accordance with the Bank?s Information Technology policies and procedures, standards, and guidelines? Supporting our business continuity by Replicating our databases from production environment (SQL,Oracle,DB2 ) to DR? Properly maintain database documentation, including standards, procedures, and definitions? Develop, test, implement and maintain contingency/disaster recovery measures and security controls? Keep up with technical development and trends by attending trainings and seminars, and reading technical articles? Provide sufficient database administration and support to all business units including creation of new users and review of their permission rights and privileges? Ensure high standards of confidentiality to safeguard commercially sensitive information.? Provide timely and accurate information to the external and internal auditors and the Compliance function as and when required.LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT? Operate as a team player within the Infrastructure team and across the wider IT division. Share knowledge with others to strengthen capability of the team? Maintain a focus on self-development by spending time reading and researching competitor activity, recent innovations and best practice
