Job Description

Project Details:Al Kharsaah Solar PV IPP Project, a 800 megawatt-peak (MWp) solar plantQatar?s first large-scale solar power plant, Al Kharsaah will provide sustainable, affordable and clean energy to industries, services and individuals through the Qatari grid starting from 2021 with an initial 350 MWp capacity before reaching its full capacity in 2022. It will represent around 10% of electricity peak demand of the country and will reduce the CO2 emissions of Qatar by 26 million tons during the life of the project. The solar plant will be built on over 1000 hectares of land and equipped with 2 million bifacial solar modules with trackers, allowing substantial power gains and leveraging the advantage of the exceptional sunlight exposure in the region. It will represent an investment of around 500 million US dollars.Mission:

  • Be fully aware of EPC Contract, subcontracts for civil works and various Project Agreements and manage the civil construction stakeholders effectively in line with the contracts.
  • Ensures the EPC Contractor?s and subcontractors? compliance with all the site HSE rules and regulations at every stage of the civil construction;
  • Ensures the EPC Contractor?s and subcontractors? compliance in executing of the civil construction works with the approved Method Statements/ Risk Analyses and regulations at every stage of construction;
Tasks:
  • Organize the integrated site team in order to supervise the EPC Contractor?s construction progress, quality of the works, including commissioning until COD (i.e. inspection witnessing, clearing punch list items, issuing mechanical completion certificates, turnover packages readiness, checking and implementing commissioning procedures?);
  • Provides input into the weekly site meetings, progress and/or discipline technical meetings with EPC Contractor;
  • Monitors and checks the EPC Contractors? work across each discipline to ensure the timely delivery of the works;
  • Confirms and provides the PD with the inputs for the monthly progress reports, relevant information to check EPC Contractor invoices.
  • Verification of the site logbook managed by the EPC Contractor;
Objectives/Accountabilities:
  • In cooperation with the schedule engineer, and in relation to the civil construction activities:
  • Follows up of the actual progress versus planned values, ensures that the critical activities are executed according to schedule, and looks for opportunities to create margin within the critical path.
  • Analyses the works and imposes optimizations to the Contractor when possible
  • Evaluates and approves all recovery plan activities related to civil works for the delayed activities to secure the overall schedule
  • Supports the schedule engineer in drafting the progress reports for the PD/EMD;
Key requirements:Experience and qualifications required
  • Bachelor?s Degree in Civil Engineering or similar
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction of industrial facilities
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) OR equivalent certification is preferred
  • EPC background and experience
  • Experience with projects valued at over $50 million
  • A minimum of two construction projects completed
  • Knowledgeable of international standards and best practices for construction
