Job Description

The Chief Accountant is the head accountant in the accounts department.Duties broadly include:

  • Month-end accounting activities such as reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Preparing and analyzing financial records.
  • Production of monthly, quarterly and annual accounting reports to management.
  • Communication with banks and vendors.
The Chief Accountant must supervise and work with the accounting team to complete accounting assignments within an agreed timetable.The successful candidate will combine honesty, with excellent analytical skills, thorough knowledge of accounting principles (particularly IFRS), reading and analyzing financial reports and forecasts.Some specific tasks include:
  • Handle full spectrum of financial and cost accounting role e.g. Accounts Receivables, Accounts Payables, General Ledger, forecasting, budgeting etc.
  • Responsible for day to day finance and accounts operations.
  • Perform full set of accounts and ensure timely closing of accounts.
  • Perform project cost forecasts/budgets, cost tracking, monitoring and controls.
  • Responsible for timely monthly consolidated financial statements, payments, cash-flow management reporting.
  • Review and approve payment vouchers and journal entries.
  • Perform cash flow forecasting, budgeting and working closely with the operations teams.
  • Develop and maintain internal control and effective accounting system and policies.
  • Consultative with the respective departments on cost reduction initiatives.
  • Preparing month VAT declarations.
