ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:- evaluates patient through questions, examinations, symptom review, and medical testing- performs exercise tests, diagnostic image tests, cardiac catheterizations; may perform or recommend procedures like echocardiograms- performs analysis of patient?s test results.- sets patient goals and discuss treatment plan- establishes timelines, tasks, and medical needs of patient- develops treatment plans for medications or therapy to help patient reach goal- prescribes medications and monitoring patient intake- recommends surgery or other further treatments- consults with surgeons on patient procedures- advise and assist on cardiac surgeries when needed- monitors patient progress post-surgery- documents patient records and progress including symptoms, medications, and treatments- provides patient with tools and methods for recovery and better quality of life- educates patient, patient?s family, significant others, and relevant parties of patient?s progress, treatment, and future goals- conducts research to better serve patients- should be updated on the latest heart procedures and studies as new breakthroughs are made in this field on a daily basis as it is one most researched human organ- designs a healthy diet chart for the patient as diet effects heart the most- designs a good exercise regimen exercise to help in quick recovery and it makes the heart stronger- must possess knowledge on various illness of the heart and each of its developments- maintains detailed reports on each patient and also a report on their progress- coordinate with any other specialist the patient might be seeing- prescribes medicines that are compatible with the other medicines the patient is taking- advice patients on any alternative treatment they might be seeking- helps the patient to fully recover from their illness and have the patient follow up even after they are okay as it posts recovery treatment is also important
