Overall PurposeThe Senior Manager, Regional Network Scheduling, Slots and Capacity oversees all MEA network activities related to Network Aircraft Scheduling within the current IATA season under the short term horizon (72 hours to roughly six months), Slot management for all Airports in the MEA region and Network Capacity evaluation and forecasting in the short term horizon. The position entails some network cost analysis along with balancing modes of transport which include owned fleet, contracted fleet, Commercial Air options and long distance trucking. The role also reviews cost drivers including block hours, cycles and airport/runway/airway limitations. The role is responsible to publish the seasonal summer and winter timetables along with schedule changes, ad hoc or short term.?AccountabilitiesLead, manage & publish the MEA Network Air Schedules including network contingencies, optimizing block hour/sector analysis, seasonal changes, holiday plans, short term route line development in partnership with Network Planning, allocations of aircraft and improvements in operational reliability.Lead and manage the Airport Slot allocation and monitoring process in partnership with Network Planning to ensure schedules maintain 80% schedule reliably & usage for each airport across the MEA regions. Maintain the Slots database.Lead and manage the short term Capacity planning, allocating DHL core products & ACS in balance with the requirement of both the company and marketplace. The manager will be responsible for the Network Routing database across MENA and SSA. Forecasting will be performed to best match available capacity with market demand or day of week needs. Different modes of transport including Commercial Air is within the scope of this role in partnership with the Commercial Air Manager.Lead and Manage communications related to schedule, contingency or capacity requirements. These efforts include leading weekly route line meetings or participating in various scheduling or capacity calls.Responsible for all communications related to shipment routing requirements under normal network conditions and during times of contingency.Responsible for the core allocation of space as a priority (and AGA) and to balance the needs of ACS with variable capacity requirements. This may include the management of block space agreements.Responsible for insightful analysis using database or spreadsheet skills to identify root cause drivers of performance trends, capacity shortfalls, block time issues and recommend comprehensive corrective action with improvement concepts offered.Provide MEA Network Planning with input and support for longer term or structural change projects both within the MEA region and for Intercontinental changes.Influence decisions and drive a consensus strategy on how to maximize schedule reliability and revenue while minimizing cost impacts.Utilizing information technology to explore new data sources and tools. Continual automation of schedule build practices to improve application intelligence and speed.Responsible for holiday planning in balance with market needs.Responsible for contingency planning during airport runways closure periods.Create prospective, speculative and other ?what if? schedules on an as needed basis for short term needs. Longer term changes may be in partnership with MEA Network Planning.Partner with the Charter desk to allocate units for ad hoc aircraft charters as required.Support MEA NOC (under 72 hour team) during times of contingency, generally in relation to strikes, weather issues, aircraft maintenance changes or airport closures which could affect the running of the network.Responsible for the maintenance of the Management of Routing Changes (MRC) and Short Term Capacity model (SCM) all to ensure routing changes are published, communicated and understood.Provide competitor analysis as and when needed.Skills and QualificationsA Bachelor?s degree in Data Sciences, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science or other quantitative discipline and at least 5 years of relevant experience/ or a Master?s degree with at least 3 years of relevant experience required.Flight Dispatch, Airline Operations research or previous Network Scheduling/Planning skills a plus.Demonstrated team leadership and comfort with mentoring and managing direct reports preferred.Demonstrated ability to delegate, hold accountable and grow junior managers.Outstanding problem solving, quantitative and analytical abilities as well as data and process curiosity.Proficiency in working with relational databases or advanced Excel skills required.A high degree of interpersonal savvy and negotiations skills across cultural lines. Outstanding written and oral communications in English required. Knowledge of Arabic and French languages a plus.Strong project management, organisational and prioritisation skills required.Critical thinking capabilities; can see things from a different perspective and can recommend or argue the case that your ideas are the best outcome.Comfortable making decisions and exercising sound judgement with confidence when confronted with varying opinions.Ability to communicate both verbally or via PowerPoint, or in meetings, with various members of the organisation, team members and leadership up through those at the executive level.Must be flexible, extremely self-motivated, and a self-starting problem solver, as well as adaptable to a fast paced, entrepreneurial and somewhat unstructured environment.
