Direct and coordinate all aspects of energy management, related to efficiency improvement and reduction of refinery Energy Intensity Index (EII).
Monitor and validate all areas of energy consumption within the refinery.
Provide support to meet required energy performance targets consistent with good engineering practices and highest industry standards.
Key Results Area
Responsible for monitoring actual energy consumed against forecasted energy consumption.
Identify areas of abnormal / excessive consumption and initiate corrective actions as needed.
Make recommendations for EII improvements through implementation and application of technology and energy best practices.
Identify and develop capital projects to reduce energy consumption and improve site EII.
Oversee implementation of energy improvement programmes and best practices to improve efficiency.
Participate in preparation and development of energy related operating and investment budgets.
Responsible for development and implementation of a corporate Energy Management System in compliance with ISO50001:2011.
Qualification
B.Sc degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical or Power Engineering or equivalent combination of practical experience and education.
Minimum Ten (10) years of practical and administrative experience within a process plant environment with at least three years as an energy conservation/efficiency leader.
Must have detailed knowledge on energy use and conservation within a process plant environment, specific knowledge in oil refining preferred.
Must be a clear thinker with considerable administrative and organizational skill. Must be self-motivated, exercise initiative, strong team player with strong leadership qualities.
Must have good communication and mentoring skills capable of influencing and gaining support from various technical teams within the refinery.
Preferably an Energy Best Practice Champion or registered Energy Consultant.
