As a social enterprise we work in partnership with communities, our donors, and other implementers to build local capacities, generate opportunity and bring about sustainable change.Learn more about our impact here:PURPOSE OF POSITION:ARK?s Operations team implement international development projects on behalf of our clients. The project is to support the capacity development of the Iraqi Armed Forces through providing technical assistance to professional military education institutions in Iraq. This role serves three key purposes: 1) to support stakeholder/relationship management and engagement activities with the project partners and other stakeholders; 2) to facilitate the deployments of international consultants into Iraq; and to 3) provide support for engagements between English speaking technical experts and Iraqi beneficiaries.ABOUT YOU:You will have recent professional experience serving in the Iraqi Armed Forces (IAF) in a senior officer role (Lt. Col- Brigadier) and an extensive understanding of the culture and operational structures in the IAF. You are self-motivated and professional, comfortable working in a multi-cultural environment and working in English. Your key strength is building strong relationships and networks, as well as facilitating relationships between interlocutors.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Building strong relationships with stakeholders and beneficiaries in the Iraqi Armed Forces (headquarters of the Military Academy (MA), the Military College (MC), the Defence University for Higher Military Studies (DUFHMS) and its Iraqi Staff College (ISC).Advise international technical experts on cultural and operational sensitivities, facilitating relationships between the technical consultants and Iraqi partners.Provide ad hoc security and pattern of life advice to the technical experts during their deployments to Iraq.Facilitate the deployment of technical experts through collaborating with ARK?s travel coordinators including through supporting the provision of work visas for deploying personnel.RequirementsSKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:EssentialNative Arabic languageProfessional English languagePrevious experience serving in the Iraqi Armed Forces at Lt.
