Job Description

The World Food Programme (WFP) is the leading humanitarian organization saving lives and changing lives, delivering food assistance in emergencies and working with communities to improve nutrition and build resilience. We are currently seeking motivated and qualified candidates to fill positions of the 2021 Policy and Programme Department (PD) Internship Programme.?The position will be based in the Programme Unit working remotely for the WFP Iraq Country office that is based in Baghdad. The internship will be typically for the period of at least 3 months during June to August/September 2021.?Brief description of Iraq Country Office:???The assistance provided by the World Food Programme (WFP) in Iraq focuses on?saving lives and fostering livelihoods, supporting the government of Iraqs social protection programmes towards Zero Hunger. Through?emergency assistance to IDPs and refugees, and recovery and skills training activities for returnees, WFP is helping the Iraqi government reduce vulnerability and build people?s resilience and food security, towards longer-term peace and development.?General Information

??Duties and responsibilities?Under the direct supervision of Head of Vulnerability Assessment & Mapping (VAM) and Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E), the candidate will perform the following duties:?
  • Support in geospatial data analysis using machine learning and artificial intelligence approaches
  • Analysis of remotely sensed satellite data to inform the food security situation in Iraq
  • Climate data analysis for the geographical targeting of climate change and resilience building interventions
  • Work with the food security analysis team to perform time-series analysis and modeling of geospatial data to support the regular reporting products
  • Support in food security analysis for any ongoing study/report as needed
  • Support in monitoring the resilience building interventions and their impacts using high resolution satellite data
