Job Summary: This position is responsible for monitoring progress of construction projects and provide technical advice related to planning and material inspection. In addition this position is responsible for negotiation with contractors on BOQs, Prices in the tendering phase for facilities construction or renovation projects. Main Tasks Manage sub-contractors by locating, evaluating, and selecting sub-contractors; monitoring and controlling performance. Coordinate with the Procurement department to ensure best prices are obtained from sub-contractors. Meet operational standards by contributing construction information to strategic plans and reviews; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; identifying construction management system improvements. Meet construction budget by monitoring project expenditures; identifying variances; implementing corrective actions; providing non-project annual operating and capital budget information. Accomplish construction project results by defining project purpose and scope; calculating resources required; establishing standards; allocating resources; scheduling and coordinating staff and sub-contractors; evaluating milestone assumptions and conclusions; resolving design problems; evaluating and implementing change orders. Approve construction projects phases by conducting inspections at critical phases. Prevent fines and interruptions by complying with, and enforcing company standards. Maintain safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations. Monitor ongoing construction to ensure that the work is being done correctly and the project stays on schedule. Ensure full Familiarity with material specifications for the infrastructure in the local area. Analyze the projects design and plan ahead for the safety of workers and members of the public who will be using the facility. Setting completion goals for subcontractors and delivery dates for materials. Visit the work site daily and speak to managers, workers and vendors to prevent miscommunication and resolve issues.
