Job Description

Supporting the Most Exciting and Meaningful Missions in the WorldEnvironmental, Health, and Safety ManagerThe Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager will be based at one of three Amentum sites in Iraq and serve the Operations and Maintenance Support Services (OMSS) and Baghdad Life Support Services (BLiSS) contracts in support of the U.S. Department of State. This position will be associated with the OMSS Program Management Office (PMO) responsible for implementing and maintaining the environmental safety and health programs to meet contract requirements and will report to the PMO Program Operations Manager. The duties and responsibilities listed below are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive.DUTIES:

  • Responsible for maintaining a safe workplace and ensuring that safety is the highest priority in the workplace.
  • Comply with all Environmental Health & Safety and Quality Assurance requirements and goals. Provide information and materials to these divisions as necessary to ensure adequate and legal documentation.
  • Inspect and evaluate the environment, equipment and processes in working areas to ensure compliance with government safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Coordinate with government representatives responsible for contract oversight.
  • Develop training programs and maintain an on-site OSHA Compliance Program for all work established safety processes and procedures.
  • Conduct inspections to ensure all safety guidelines, operating procedures, and regulations are followed. Observe and inspect to detect and correct unsafe practices.
  • Provide oversight and guidance for the following programs:
    • Accidents, Injuries, and Illness
    • Respiratory
    • Hazard Communication
    • Electrical Safety
    • Lockout Tagout
    • Confined Space Entry
    • Crane Safety
  • Review and maintain mishap reports and statistics, and implements corrective actions.
  • Conduct reviews and rehearsals of the organizational pre-accident plan.
  • Establish policies and procedures for proper environmental stewardship and compliance with applicable environmental laws and regulations.
  • Recruit, oversee, and facilitate employees at satellite locations and coordinate country wide compliance. Periodic in country travel to these sites will be required.
  • Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.
REQUIRED:
  • Minimum Acceptable Experience Level:
    • Five (5) years? experience working in environmental protection, health and safety, with government safety regulations and industry standards.
    • Two (2) years? experience as a Quality Control Inspector, Facilities Manager, or Safety Inspector.
    • Experience in OCONUS and austere environments.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Ability to manage a team of inspectors.
    • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret standards, contracts, governmental regulations, and technical procedures.
    • Ability to give presentations.
    • Demonstrated successful interpersonal skills.
  • Education: Successful completion of a four-year curriculum from an accredited college or university leading to a bachelors degree in Public Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or equivalent/related field experience.
  • Passport, Licenses and Certifications:
    • As part of pre-contingency requirements, by the time the visa process starts, candidates must possess a valid passport with a minimum of 18 months remaining to expiration date with 8 blank pages.
    • Valid drivers? license
    • Must possess,or be willing to obtain within 60 days of hire, Safety Trained Supervisor (STS) certification.
  • Security Vetting: Already possess an active DoD or DoS Secret clearance or be able to obtain a favorable Secret clearance prior to being hired. Must maintain eligibility for the duration of the contract.
  • Language Skills: Satisfactory English proficiency to meet job requirements and to adhere and comply with safety, health, and security measures.
  • Medical: Successfully complete and pass the medical and dental examinations as required by Amentum and our customer for deployment to Iraq. Must maintain physical and dental requirements for duration of deployment.
DESIRED:
  • Seven (7) years? experience working in environmental protection, health and safety, with government safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Prior experience with ISO Certification processes is highly desirable.
  • Certifications: OSHA 10 Hour, OSHA 30 Hour Construction, OSHA 30 Hour General Industry, HAZWOPER 40 Hour, and Serv Safe.
  • Demonstrated commitment to achieving excellence in customer satisfaction.
  • Relevant overseas contracting experience.
  • Working knowledge of Amentum policies and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of FAR and procedures.
  • Knowledge in the discipline of operations and maintenance projects in an international environment.
  • Experience working with Amentum.
OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of principles and processes involved in supporting Environmental Safety and Health responsibilities at an overseas facility.
  • Experience providing excellent customer services.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment that requires handling multiple tasks at a given time and rapidly adapting to changing priorities and schedules.
  • Cross-cultural sensitivity with an international perspective.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Word and Excel.

  • Expert communication skills to facilitate and disseminate information.
WORKING AND LIVING CONDITIONS:This position may be located in an environment with harsh and dangerous working and living conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may regularly be exposed to extreme and austere desert-like environment. Temperatures can reach 120-130 degrees Fahrenheit/50-55 degrees Celsius during the summer months. Employees must be willing and able to perform regular job requirements in this austere, extreme environment, as well as willing and able to deploy to Iraq for extended periods. Work schedules are a minimum of 6 days per week and 10 hours per day, while some jobs have higher daily and weekly minimums. Employees must be willing and able to perform physical activities including, but not limited to, heavy lifting and moving of items, parts, assemblies, and equipment up to the safety regulation maximum; climbing in and out of equipment; crawling; and working outdoors.
