Job Description

Seeking a CNC Machinist to Set-up and Operate to perform all the job duties associated with the manufacture of finished and semi-finished machined goods using automated and manual equipment and processes to meet end customer needs.The ideal candidate should have experience in weapons manufacturing.Preferably operating experience using 4-Axis, 5-Axis, EDM, Wirecut and/or the same class machine.?Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Proficiency in setting up either vertical or horizontal CNC multi axis machining centers or multi turret lathes with multi-part holding fixtures including defining work and tool offsets.
  • Ability to read and edit part programs to establish initial set-up and mapping the machine out for production readiness.
  • Setup and measurement of tooling in a variety of holders
  • Competency for CNC programming and offset adjustments
  • Working knowledge of blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
  • Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample work pieces, adhering to control plan standards.
  • Basic troubleshooting skills in identifying/resolving part tolerance issues caused by various setup, programming, tooling issues.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in fast paced team environment while maintaining professionalism under tight deadlines.
  • Familiarity with variety of materials including alloys, aluminum, stainless steel, mild steel, etc.
  • Operate machines when set-up work is complete.
  • Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.
  • Grind, file, or sand surfaces of metal items, utilizing a variety of hand tools, power tools, and machines.
  • Train operators on best practices with both machine operation and quality inspection methods
  • Ability to perform calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry, proving part dimensions.
  • Ability to use caliper/micrometer and other measuring tools.
  • Maintains specifications by taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
  • Measure dimensions of finished workpieces to ensure conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments, templates and fixtures.
  • Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations. Testing of safety features of a machine during set-up
  • Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.
  • Maintains a safe, healthy work environment by complying with organization standards and legal regulations.
  • Must be able to respond professionally to process improvements.
  • Move materials and maintain work area.
  • Responsible for visual and physical quality of the parts being loaded and unloaded.
  • Have the ability to identify and replace any broken or worn tools and make tool offsets.
  • Examination of surfaces in order to find defects.
  • Removal of defects and smoothing of uneven surfaces.
