At the forefront of medical discovery as it relates to understanding the causes of obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer and dementia, is a campus of Louisiana State University and conducts basic, clinical and population research. The Center includes Basic Science, Clinical Research, and Population and Public Health, enabling both focused research and translational science. Research at Pennington Biomedical is supported broadly by multiple , and includes approximately 65 faculty and 20 postdoctoral fellows who comprise a network of 44 laboratories and 13 highly specialized core service facilities. You will be able to access and complete the application through ?My Draft Applications? located on your Candidate Home page.*Job Posting Title:Scheduling CoordinatorPosition Type:Professional / UnclassifiedDepartment:LSUPBRC Cores - Clinical Outpatient and Inpatient Services (Robert Leonhard (00001968))Work Location:LSU - Pennington BiomedicalPay Grade:Professional HourlyThe Scheduling Coordinator will organize and coordinate the check-in and scheduling aspects of research studies; ensure effective participant communication, scheduling, and interaction; assist in the preparation of clinic activities; and provide administrative support as required.Job Responsibilities: (List essential duties and responsibilities to accomplish the job) * Greets all study participants at the reception desk or clinic desk, completes check-in process in the Scheduler, alerts Research Coordinator or Core Service of the participant arrival, and directs participant to the appropriate location.* Schedules screening dates for eligible participants.* Works with Study Coordinators in scheduling of participant study visits.* Works with Research Nurses/Inpatient Nurses in scheduling of participant procedures.* Develops rapport with participants to assist in the retention of volunteers.* Greets all visitors to the Clinic Building and directs them to the appropriate area.* Ensures clinic staff accepts study visits in a timely manner.* Assists in the preparation of the clinic to include preparation of charts, exam rooms and equipment; calibration of equipment; and ensuring availability of snacks and drinks.* Monitors daily schedule making adjustments as needed based upon staff availability and participant presence; maintains record of attendance, no show and rescheduling of participants.* Notifies Study Coordinators and other departments upon the arrival of their scheduled participant.* Provides and explains the required study screening documents as required.* Accepts calls and directs to the appropriate personnel.* Provides reminder calls to all participants the day prior to scheduled visit.* Assists the Medical Record Department in the collection of data and filing of charts as required.* Compiles statistics and data for reports as requested.* Maintains inventory of clinic supplies, office supplies, and forms. Orders supplies as needed.* Provides administrative support to the Clinic Administrator as required.* Completes data entry on specified studies as assigned.* Performs other job functions as required.Skills, Education and Experienced Required:Skills: * Strong verbal and written communication skills.* Willingness to teach; ability to translate complex scientific information into everyday language.* Excellent organizational skills.* Detail oriented with the ability to effectively multi-task.* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications and the ability to learn and utilize new computer programs/software quickly and accurately.* Ability to efficiently work and interact with personnel at all levels within the organization* Ability to, or willingness to learn, preform clinic measures (i.e. blood pressure, EKG, etc.). Education * Bachelor?s degree in business, science, or a health related field required.* Current CPR certification or willingness to complete course after hiring. Experience * One to three years? experience in a business setting providing scheduling, data management, medical records management, and/or administrative services required.* At least one year experience in an academic setting preferred.Physical Abilities:(Describe the physical demands pertinent to job, i.e. standing, walking, lifting, etc.) * Tasks require variety of physical activities such as walking, standing, stooping, sitting and reaching.
