1. Maintains contacts with vendors and their representatives; researches a variety of goods and services to determine availability and characteristics of commodities and services.2. Contacts suppliers for price quotes; prepares requisitions and affixes authorizing signature before ordering and checks accuracy of funding information.3. Purchases goods and services within established limits as provided by the Division of Purchases and/ or Budget Purchase.4. Contacts vendors to obtain availability and product characteristic information or to solicit bids; develops requests for quotations; and confers with vendors concerning new products, damaged goods, delayed payments or related information.5. Responsible to ensure that tendering and negotiating processes provide best value for the company, as well as ensuring that a consistent professional approach to procurement and supplier and contract management is practiced throughout the organization, apart from managing the ongoing development of the profile of procurement across the organization.6. To provide professional advice and information on procurement matters to the appropriate departments and/or division?s including advice on contracts and procurement procedures.7. Meets with department/division heads and other concern staff or employees to discuss requirements, recommend substitutes and forecast organization needs.8. Responsible to ensure that the needs of the company met in a manner compliant with procurement policy and best commercial practice, it is important in ensuring compliance with best procurement practice, consistent with certain legislation and obligations.
