Job Description

An Occupational Health Nurse Assistant is responsible for the provision of health and safety services for employees in their workplace. The nurse is charged with preventing workplace injuries and illnesses that can affect employee well-being and impact the companys productivity. The Occupational Health Nurse assesses the workplace environment and educates employees on maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide first aid and emergency care for occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses.
  • Respects and maintains confidential and identifiable health information as per HIPAA regulations.
  • Demonstrates developed assessment skills. Perform required health assessments for specified programs.
  • Oversee the medical surveillance of employees exposed to hazardous chemicals and infectious diseases. Assist the Military Preventive Medicine Team.
  • Conduct required screening tests, such as the monthly drug and alcohol testing.
  • Assist/coordinate with health and wellness promotion, education, and training programs.
  • Visit employees who has been hospitalized ensuring they are receiving the care needed and or assessing the need to be transferred to another healthcare facility.
  • Coordinate with Managers, Supervisors, and the ESH team to ensure all necessary personnel are current in the Medical Monitoring Program: Respiratory Protection, Hearing Conservation, Heavy Metal Testing, Cholinesterase, and PFT?s
  • Ability to read results of tuberculin skin tests and educate employees regarding latent tuberculosis as needed.
