Job Description

JOB PURPOSE / ROLE:To assist the head of IT Capacity planning in the implementation and maintenance of capacity management and availability management policies, processes and procedures. To collect the capacity requirements of new services. To ensure capacity requirements are met and to improve the performance level. To conduct monthly reviews of the Capacity Plan and report on it.?KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Produce a capacity design and plan discussing the ability of the IT infrastructure to meet the performance and capacity requirements of the business
  • Accountable for collecting and implementing the capacity requirements of new standard services
  • Ensure the performance and capacity criteria of standard service levels are met
  • Ensure performance requirements of new IT services can be met by determining the capacity requirements from the functional design?
  • Determine if the current IT infrastructure is being utilized optimally. Monitor, analyze and manage allocation of logical and physical capacity elements and ensure that additional capacity requirements are identified and implemented based on forecasted growth
  • Carry out data analysis of capacity usage, forecasted demand, forecast capacity requirements to ensure services are maintained and re-order points are clearly identified, tracked and undertaken
  • Capture and track Availability & Capacity information from components (Application, DB, Network elements etc.) against actuals and estimates
  • Develop and maintain Capacity plans (including trend information for predicted capacity needs) and Availability plans and reports against customer commitments
  • Accurately assess risks to current plan or activity and derives the approach to minimize the impact of the risk maturing
  • Implement and maintain ITIL V3 aligned Capacity Management and Availability Management policies, processes and procedures
  • Evaluate the impact of proposed changes on the capacity design and plan
  • Ensure capacity requirements are met and to improve the performance level within cost constraints
  • Champion recommendations for tuning, and present the recommendations to IT management customers on the design and use of systems to help ensure optimum use is made of all hardware and operating software components
  • Champion recommendations for resolution to performance problems and recommend to IT management when to employ demand management techniques
  • Ensure Capacity Management Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are in place and are met
  • Provide feedback on the effectiveness and end-to-end Capacity Management Process workflow to the unit head
  • Conduct monthly reviews of the Capacity Plan and report on it
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:Eligibility Criteria:Bachelor?s degree in Computer Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent.Minimum Experience:8 years in IT capacity planning/system administration, preferably with a large organization in the financial sector.Knowledge, Skills & Attributes:-Detailed knowledge of principles, policies, procedures, and internal processes pertaining to IT capacity planning.-Effective communication and interpersonal skills-High computer literacy skills.-Ability to work under pressure and adjust quickly to changing priorities.-Experience in coaching and mentoring.-People management skills.-Arabic and English speaking skills?
