POSITION SUMMARY:The Microbiologist will complete or oversee a variety of professional microbiological tests, analyses and production activities to diagnose human disease, determine food purity, or produce and test biological product, he will conducts routine tests related to medical microbiology, reports accordingly for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease and performs related duties following established standards and practices.?POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:1) ???Perform microbiological and chemical examinations for the detection, identification and control of microbial disease agents and other impurities, including bacteriological, chemical, serological, parasitological, mycological, and viral tests, using a variety of laboratory equipment.2) ???Prepare or supervise preparation of stains, media and reagents; advise health personnel and public regarding proper methods of specimen collection and transport.3) ???Performs routine Bacteriology procedures including inoculation and reading of plates, prepares and interprets Gram stains, acid-fast stains and fungal microscopic preparations, and also performs routine AFB work including specimen processing and staining.4) ???Supervised and receives collection of specimens and labels them appropriately; discards them after test or stores for future reference.5) ???Supervises and coordinates technical activities in microbiology related to preparation of sterile media for use in growing bacterial cultures, solutions, reagents and stains according to standard formulas and procedures.6) ???Accurately read, interpret and record the results of laboratory tests.7) Demonstrates competency on all test methods, lab SOPs (standard operating procedures), and instrument calibrations to a level sufficient to perform all assigned work8) Prepares samples for analysis as required for prescribed test using appropriate sample methods and procedures
