The Department of Cognitive Sciences at the United Arab Emirates University has a vacancy for an Associate Professor of Philosophy. We seek a philosopher of the cognitive sciences with expertise in philosophy of technology, philosophy and theory of AI, philosophical psychology, philosophy of mind and with specialisation in one or more applied areas, such as technology ethics, human-computer interaction and human-robot teaming, human performance, human factors, social robotics, cybersecurity. The candidate will have a track record of successful collaborations with AI experts and computer scientists, engineers, cognitive psychologists, linguists, and neuroscientists and a demonstrated capability to work in interdisciplinary teams, co-authoring joint publications, applying for internal and external grants, developing original research projects, organizing high-impact academic events, and conducting empirical research with their colleagues. The candidate will have expertise in designing innovative multi-disciplinary curricular programs and course contents, catering to the needs of undergraduate and graduate students in both the humanities & social sciences and in STEM.Applicants must have an earned doctorate in the applicable field.
