Job Description

The purpose of the role SVP & Head of Business Finance - Global Consumer Banking is to handle and oversee all financial matters within Global Consumer Banking Segments, in the UAE and all international locations. The role plays a key position in providing support and in-depth business insights and analysis to the senior business partners (heads of business), and to support strategic business decisions to grow revenues and returns while ensuring adequate cost management.The job holder acts as a strategic finance business partner to the Global Consumer Banking Segments and is responsible, among other things, for the strategy development, business planning, budgeting, and business performance management aspects of the business, in addition to ensuring strong financial control and reporting standards are applied to meet the overall strategic objectives of the business.The role interacts with senior business personnel and provides in-depth analysis related to the products and market contexts of the businesses, to influence and manage the effective roll out of the business strategy. Further, the role drives the systems implementation of relevant finance projects, in partnership with other stakeholders from Group Finance, business teams and technology partners.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: Generic Accountability

  • To act as a Finance Business Partner for and provide advisory insights to the business.
  • To act as the trusted finance advisor on business performance and strategic issues.
  • To lead regular performance review with the business heads.
  • To manage and oversee management reporting and analysis, and the preparation of reporting packs.
  • To drive the annual budget exercise for the business segments and products, monitor financial performance versus budget.
  • To act as a liaison with Group FP&A to ensure accurate product/line of business for upstream data integrity.
  • To assess and ensure transparency in the financial performance of the business divisions.
  • To ensure that disclosure of our financial performance meets regulatory requirements and other relevant standards (accounting, governance, etc.).
  • To manage various financial control and risk management dimensions for the business.
  • To manage external and internal audits, and successfully address all audit findings and recommendations implementation.
  • To oversee the learning and development plans of all members the team, and ensure they are getting the adequate training courses they require to enable them to perform their roles in an effective manner.
  • To supporting the banks Emiratization plan and take appropriate action to develop UAEN team members.
Specific Accountability
  • To establish a best-in-class Business Finance team for Global Consumer Banking and act as the main finance representative on all necessary business management forums.
  • To review the financials for Global Consumer Banking and provide objective, value added commentary and insights for the business.
  • To act as a central person for all Group Finance functions on matters associated with Global Consumer Banking Segments, products, branches and distribution and digital, specifically for financial and regulatory reporting, treasury matters, financial performance management and analysis, tax and financial control.
  • To provide advice to Global Consumer Banking business teams on new/existing products, processes and business arrangements relating to financial and regulatory reporting compliance.
  • To identify key risks within Global Consumer Banking, particularly financial, and coordinate relevant stakeholders as appropriate to put in place appropriate risk mitigation plans and ensure risks are incorporated into the business planning and strategy phases.
  • To work with Group Treasury on any FTP, balance sheet, capital and liquidity management matters affecting Global Consumer Banking products and pricing.
  • To monitor projects and initiatives driven by Global Consumer Banking, and update the CFO Consumer, Private, Islamic and Subsidiaries and Business heads on performance gaps with proposals on how to improve performance.
  • To review the budgets for key strategic projects and change management initiatives for Global Consumer Banking, and ensure they are effectively managed and monitored across teams.
  • To monitor the performance of Global Consumer Banking and use MI reports to enhance performance and aid strategic decision-making, and manage areas of under-performance.
  • To ensure accurate and timely MI reporting to assist business partners and management in Global Consumer Banking in decision making with detailed analysis - covering revenue, costs, balance sheet lines, AUMs and key ratios.
  • To work closely with Consumer Banking leadership team to lead the formulation and implementation of the Global Consumer banking strategic plan, balanced scorecards in line with the business long-term objectives.
  • To contribute and support in the development and expansion of the Global Consumer Banking Segment strategy and ensure effective integration.
  • To prepare rolling forecast in collaboration with products/segment head and identify area of concern and identify opportunities/initiatives for growth.
  • Detailed customer wise profitability and margin analysis by product/Segment
Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or Banking & Finance.
  • Having an accounting qualification (e.g. CPA, ACCA, CA) and/or a Masters degree is a plus.
  • Around 15 years of working experience within banking and/or a top-tier audit or consultancy firm.
  • Successful track record managing large teams and proven ability to drive and manage large scale projects.
  • Established leadership and interpersonal skills, and ability communicate effectively with regulators and auditors.
  • Extensive experience in management and financial reporting and solid understanding of accounting standards (IFRS and IAS).
  • Superior analytical and organizational skills and ability to work under pressure, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, delegate appropriately and deliver in a timely manner.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong ability to communicate with senior stakeholders clearly and effectively.
  • Proven ability to plan, lead and manage change, with strong analytical, conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office - especially Excel and PowerPoint, and basic understanding of T24, OBIEE, OneSumX and Power BI.
