Job Description

Contract Duration: 12 months with 3 months? probation. Target Start Date: asapWork Location: DubaiWorking hours & Days: 0800 ? 1700 hrs ( plus as required)Years of experience: 5 yearsRoles and responsibilities: To carry out technical oversight and supervision of allocated vessels as instructed by the Regional Technical Manager to ensure the Technical Standards of Operations, Maintenance and repair are complied with to satisfy company standards, policies, classification and statutory rules and regulations.Monitor and oversee the technical status of all designated vessels following established procedures for maintaining in Class condition. Liaise with designated vessels Master & Chief Engineers, Class surveyors & 3rd party auditors to arrange statutory & class surveys and annual DP trials to be carried out before expiry of the vessels certification.Plan and implement repairs and maintenance in accordance with company policy, PMS & Class regulations in the safest and most cost effective manner.Maintain the required work processes in the companies SMS and PMS for the designated vessels under your management.Liaise with HO Projects dept. to assist in the preparation of the dry docking specification for the vessels managed as required. Assist the Regional Technical Manager in generating the annual technical budgets for the vessels under your management.Control the technical budget for all technical aspects of vessel costs to ensure reliability of the vessels being managed.Liaise with Masters and Chief Engineers to understand and mitigate any technical issues which may affect vessel operations/performance and provide technical expertise or assistance as required.Maintain relationships with Class, Flag state, Port state, clients and suppliers to mitigate disputes, maximize cooperation.Liaise with the Regional Technical Manager to assist establishing and carrying out requirements and schedule for routine vessel inspections and technical auditing.Monitor critical machineries for the designated vessels performance to ensure optimum performance. Observe areas where the cost and wastage can be reduced and advise the RTM accordingly.Carry out negotiations with shipyards and repairers to achieve a satisfactory and fair financial outcome in the best interest of the business.Provide guidance to Ships Masters and Chief Engineers on troubleshooting and solving vessels technical issues in the best interest and cost to Owners to ensure ongoing technical reliability.Liaise with the Fleet Technical Managers (Operations; Projects & Research& systems) on important technical issues related to the designated vessels under your management.Collaborate with the Operations & Marketing depts. To ensure optimum vessel operations during the course of a charter.Carry out performance appraisals of the engine room staff for your designated vessels.Participate in accident investigations when necessary and process AIR?s as required.Liaise with HO insurance department when there is an H&M claim for vessels designated under your management. Software knowledge: Microsoft ( Word. Excel. Powerpoint. Project.) Autocad.
