System Administrator

Job Description

Our client a Finance company based in Abu Dhabi is looking for a System Administrator for a Permanent contract :Manage the administration of IT systems and ensure smooth functioning of IT operations.Responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems and servers, install hardware and software, and participate in research and development to continuously improve and keep up with the IT business needs of organization.Actively resolve problems and issues with computer and server systems to limit work disruptions within the company.Responsabilities :

• Responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems.
• Install and upgrade computer components and software, manage virtual servers, and integrate automation processes.
• Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issues.
• Provide documentation and technical specifications to IT staff for planning and implementing new or upgrades of IT infrastructure.
• Perform or delegate regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures.
• Ensure that the trading and settlement processes run efficiently and in accordance with the rules and regulations of the securities market.
• Provide advisory and Supervision on the Daily CSD and Trading administration activities to System administrators
• Responsible for capacity, storage planning, and database performance.
• Monitor and ensure trading and clearing systems are running according to the day schedule.
• Maintain System Database and Database Data Integrity.
• Maintain data backups including disaster recover data backups in line with the policies and procedures.
• Monitor and Administer replication programs operation to the Shadow servers and DR site.
• Interact with vendors regarding system and application upgrades and conduct checks on software
• Ensure all system upgrades and fixes as required by the business following policies and procedures.
• Manage the process of acquiring system licenses from vendors for Infrastructure and Applications and oversee implementation of ITIL Framework.
• Preparing and maintaining functional documentation and support the evaluation of Digital Technology and Innovation related proposals.
• Execute project management task and related project aligned with assigned systems and applications.

• Bachelor?s degree in IT, Computer Science, Computer Engineer, Business Information Systems, Information Security, or any related field.
• Minimum 7-8 years of system administration, database administration, hardware & Software administration
• System administration and IT certifications in Linux, Microsoft, or other network related fields are a plus
• Strong knowledge of IBM AS400 & DB2 system software, hardware, and networking protocols.
• Good knowledge of systems and networking software, hardware, and networking protocols
• Experience with shell and bash scripting and automation tools
• A proven track record of developing and implementing IT strategy and plans.
• Proven experience in implementing system security standards on IBM AS400/ Linux System.
• Strong knowledge of implementing IT operations best practices, including expert knowledge of security, storage, data protection, and disaster recovery protocols.
• Experience in Cloud based applications and cloud platforms.
