1.? Job PurposeResponsible for the maintenance and operation of the fully automated Main Tank Life Support System and manage all non-automated LSS components of the National Aquarium. LSS Supervisor is also responsible for the building maintenance in all aquarium designated areas of the Mall facility.2.? Nature & ScopeThe job holder will be responsible for the daily care of all the animals within the Aquarium Specific focus will be on the Life Support Systems. The Job holder will be responsible for the supervision of all maintenance staff. It is their responsibility to ensure all mechanical systems within the Aquarium are maintained and operational.?3.? DimensionsTo monitor, assess and rectify issues with Life Support Systems to ensure optimal conditions for animal exhibits.?4.? ?Principal Accountabilities?? Manage all automated LSS components of the main tank aquarium. To monitor water levels and keep LSS components within their design specification.?? Assists the LSS Manager in staff scheduling and time keeping of staff activities such as maintenance and cleaning which may have an impact on LSS.?? Assists the Curator / LSS Managers in the implementation of written LSS standards and protocols for all exhibits to ensure the highest standards for water quality, operational efficiency, cleanliness, display attractiveness and animal health.?? With the Curators / LSS Managers approval make improvements or modifications to systems to meet particular species needs or to improve general exhibit quality.?? To conduct preventative maintenance on all LSS components in order to ensure uninterrupted operation of the aquarium long term.?? To establish a list of emergency protocols for dealing with long term and short term potential hazards to exhibits. For example power failure.?? Manage all non-automated LSS components of the National Aquarium exhibits. Because there are no time keeping devices on these exhibits all cleaning and maintenance must be systematic and recorded.?? To manage all warranty and supplier servicing agreements for LSS components and auxiliary systems?? To manage all building maintenance including M&E and physical structures within aquarium areas.?? Keep all building fixtures and fittings in world class condition.?? Manage all LSS lighting and area lighting and replace lamps where required. Determine if the aquarium electrical use is operating by the most cost-effective means. Make suggestions where energy consumption can be improved without the sacrifice of the product.?? Ensures that all back of house areas deemed ?plant rooms? are kept clean and free of clutter and LSS components of a clean appearance.
