About the CompanyEstablished in 2014, we are ADNOCs leading upstream company charged with driving marginal field development, and the first joint venture in the GCC between ADNOC (60%) and China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC - 40%).Our activities span the hydrocarbon value chain from exploration to oil production of onshore and offshore concession areas. By taking an entrepreneurial approach and drawing on the expertise of established ADNOC upstream operating companies, we are using a cost-effective operating model to develop these concession areas and enable their profitable development. We are contributing to ADNOCs 2030 strategy by helping to create a more profitable upstream and supporting the growth of the UAEs economy.About the JobConduct geological studies including for instance evaluation of underdeveloped field, exploration play including unconventional play-shale oil reviews, prospect ranking and maturation studies, log/seismic interpretations and correlations, exploration, and appraisal well proposals and participation in multi-disciplinary studies to define and evaluate exploration and appraisal prospect. The function also includes giving technical support to the team leader and VP Exploration and representation of technical meetings with OPCO shareholders, vendors, and consultants.Key Accountabilities

  • To evaluate proposals for geological studies or data gathering activities such as exploration and appraisal wells and offer advice on the scope of the studies and extent of the data gathering activities.
  • To propose and justify data gathering activities such as the acquisition of cores, pressure measurements and wireline logs in exploration or appraisal wells or (in full cooperation with the departments geophysicists) seismic or other geophysical data.
  • To conduct geological studies, including well log interpretations, well log correlations, preparation of regional reservoir property maps, play maps, prospect maps and other maps, regional play evaluations, prospect ranking and maturation studies, basin analysis and geochemical studies, exploration, and appraisal well proposals, etc., all in full cooperation with other disciplines and integrating all petroleum engineering, geological.
  • To delegate, plan and supervise exploration geological projects, including quality control of the final products such as geological study reports, geochemical analysis reports, basin analysis reports, well proposals, volumetric assessments, etc.
  • Prepare and disseminate reports on a regular and ad hoc basis to ensure that all concerned parties are aware of the status of the work in progress of the projects undertaken in the field from a technical perspective.
  • Assess quality of reservoir data including seismic data (horizons / faults), Petro-physical data (porosity / fluid saturation) and geological data (formation tops / reservoir layers) for grid construction and geostatistical distribution of reservoir properties.
  • Support the preparation of well prognosis and well delivery documents. Reviewing well trajectories and target reservoir intervals to ensure optimum well trajectory and placement and avoid drilling hazards.
  • Create structural model of the reservoir based seismic interpretation (faults / horizons), formation tops and structural geology (present day rock geometries) considering regional settings & tectonic history of the field. Ensure quality of input data for the models.
  • Extract average property maps, cross-sections, and statistical data from geological / simulation model(s) to compare & check the quality of input data of property distributions. Provide geological support to assess production rates, drilling locations and development plans.
  • Analyze distribution of rock types, porosity, permeability, and saturation using geo-statistical techniques, including SIS, SGS, Cloud Transform and saturation height functions for each property. Update existing model(s) with newly available reservoir seismic / geological data.
  • Create volumetric computation and conducts risk analysis based on area of trap, net reservoir thickness, porosity / hydrocarbon saturation, recovery factor and formation volume factor. Assess subsurface risks / uncertainties.
  • Ensure that all models are built in compliance with ADNOC Modelling guidelines.
  • To advise Management on acquisition of new software and hardware related to geological studies.
  • Staying up to date with the latest software developments and new applications which are of potential value to the Division.
