Senior Specialist, Technology (Facilities Integrity)

Job Description

JOB PURPOSE:Support and build a granular technology strategy to be embedded in the ADNOC Business plan covering all aspects of Upstream Asset Integrity with a strong basis in materials science and reliability and a focus on Well and Upstream Facility integrity management and RAM assurance. Create scopes and technical content and provide technical authority for all shareholders, partners, technology developers and providers. Create and curate improvement plans for ADNOC R&D workflows / processes. Implement ADNOC Corporate technology strategies. Identify and own technical challenges and Technology Solution Strategies across Upstream business line; specifically focused on investment opportunities, cost and business impact. Manage projects and Technology Pilots across Research & Development IP portfolio, and ensure systemic integration and deployment of research findings, in order to support ADNOC?s business growth and sustainability.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:Research & Development

• Identify and screen the Asset Integrity technical challenges across the Upstream business lines with detailed analysis on investment required and business impact. Collate and curate these in a transparent prioritization, taking account of Asset Manager?s priorities and ADNOC?s corporate Risk Assessment Matrix.
• Demonstrate specific knowledge and expertise associated with Well Integrity, particularly the assurance of barriers over a well lifetime as per ISO 16530-1 and Upstream production facilities
• Develop Research and Technology Development proposals addressing Group Company technical challenges, and in alignment with ADNOC Strategic Objectives.
• Technically evaluate R&D proposals.
• Evaluate AGCs partners technical capabilities, including academic institutions, shareholders, and service companies, to execute R&D activities/projects.
• Manage the R&D portfolio to demonstrate value and assure anticipated Return-on-Investment (RoI).
• Technically steer the ongoing R&D activities in collaboration with the discipline technical groups and stakeholders.
• Manage the R&D projects to ensure timely execution within the agreed scope and budget.
• Establish R&D projects management dashboard, smart objectives and clear KPIs.
• Work with the Upstream directorates, Functions and Group Companies to ensure systematic Integration and deployment of research findings and results back into ADNOCs operations.
• Organize, conduct and lead technical workshops that will elevate technical competence across the AGCs and nurture the innovation culture.

Technology

• Develop technical content and regularly update the technology road-map in collaboration with the relevant technical teams and stakeholders.
• Scout for new and emerging technologies for improvements and availability
• Be the ADNOC technology qualification technical authority for all shareholders, partners, Technology developers and providers related to materials, corrosion, asset reliability, availability and maintenance

PhD scholars and Local Development Function

• Technically Mentor the ADNOC PhD scholar?s progress.
• Ensure technical alignment of ADNOC PhD scholars research work.
• Technically develop UAE nationals through coaching and shadowing programs.
• Attract young UAE nationals to participate in R&D activities.

Business Development

• Develop R&D strategy to be embedded in the ADNOC Business plan.
• Conduct projects business reviews, Net Present Value (NPV) and RoI analysis as requested.
• Continuously review ADNOC RTD workflows/processes and propose improvement plans.

Intellectual Property

• Review R&D patent and invention disclosure applications and ensure its technical soundness.
• Review R&D related publication authorization requests and ensure its technical soundness.
• Asses the IP portfolio to demonstrate value, and potential for commercialization.

Others

• Perform other similar duties as assigned.

Supervision

• Plan, supervise and coordinate all activities in the assigned area to meet functional objectives.
• Train and develop the assigned staff on relevant skills to enable them to become proficient on the job and deliver the respective business objectives.

Budgets

• Provide input for preparation of the Function / Division / Department / Section budgets, assist in the implementation of the approved Budget, and work plans to deliver business objectives.
• Investigate and highlight any significant variances to support effective performance and cost control.

Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures

• Implement approved Function/ Division/ Department/ Section policies, processes, systems, standards and procedures in order to support execution of the work programs in line with Company and International standards.

Performance Management

• Contribute to the achievement of the approved Performance Objectives for the Function/ Division / Department/ Section in line with the Company Performance framework.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement

• Design and implement new tools and techniques to improve the quality and efficiency of operational processes.
• Identify improvements in internal processes against best practices in pursuit of greater efficiency in line with best industry standards in order to define intelligent solutions for issues confronting the function.

Health, Safety, Environment (HSE) and Sustainability

• Comply with relevant HSE policies, procedures, controls, applicable legislation, and sustainability guidelines in line with international standards, best practices and ADNOC Code of Practices.

Reports

• Provide inputs to prepare MIS and progress reports for Company Management.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS: Minimum Qualification

• Bachelor?s Degree in Engineering or equivalent materials science
