A Senior Microbiology Scientist who will take on a team leading position in an environmental lab that processes only water samples rather than a clinical lab.Client DetailsThe company is a leading health-tech company in the UAE and aims to be a world-class healthcare provider in the coming years. They are also developing a program of activities to support the health of future generations - from genomics, imaging and diagnostics to healthcare digitization.DescriptionTo be responsible for QC and QA in area of responsibility, ensuring non-conformances are investigated, documented and changes to practice identified where necessary.To manage day-to-day staffing in area of responsibility to ensure safe service delivery and maintenance of TATs.To be responsible for risk and COSHH assessments in area of responsibility.To attend, and chair where required, departmental meetings.To deputise for Principal BMS as required.To be responsible for writing and maintaining SOPs in area of responsibility.To report, investigate and monitor errors and incidents as per policies.To have oversight of reports released from area of responsibility.Role specific:To be expert in set-up, use and advanced trouble-shooting of liquid TB culture platform (BD MGIT).To ensure correct procedures are adhered to with regard to handling of CL3 and Schedule 5 organisms.To be expert in set-up, use and advanced trouble-shooting of automated systems for NAATs.To be expert in set-up, use and advanced trouble-shooting of automated systems for ID and AST (Maldi-Tof).To work in conjunction with Team Manager for CL3 and Mycology and waste management, providing cover as required.To work in conjunction with Team Manager for automated ID and AST providing cover as required.ProfilePhD qualification is idealMSc Biomedical Sciences : specialising in Microbiology and/or experience in an equivalent role.Level 2 or above management qualification (desirable).Current experience as a team lead / supervisory role in managing a team.
