DescriptionHitachi Rail STS is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Senior Interface Manager who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in Abu Dhabi.Hitachi Rail STS is an international leader with a global presence in signaling and the implementation of integrated transport systems for freight and passenger railways, as well as mass transit systems.   • Identify, define, control and manage system interfaces
  • Lead technical interface meetings and reporting about interface management
  • Lead interface discussions with technical teams and customer
  • Acquire deep understanding of subsystems provided by external suppliers and ensure compatibility at system level
  • Support System Integration Manager in technical decisions
  • Active participation in optimal overall project technical solution
  • Support Customer design review and internal design reviews
  • Support lab, factory, and field testing
  • Ensure compliance with company processes
  • Understands and integrates applicable CMMI, CENELEC, AREMA, IEEE, IPC, etc standards.
  • Coordination of interfaces among contactors, between HSTS contract systems and external contractors (external interfaces) and among HSTS contract subsystems (internal interfaces), resolution in design, implementation and testing during commissioning phases, in order to secure that the expected functionalities are achieved.
The main methods and tools in managing interfaces are:? External Interface Log and Matrix? Internal Interface Log and Matrix? Interface Specification? Interface Management Programme? Coordinated Interface Programme (CIP) Meetings? Coordinated Interface ReportOther main activities related to Interface Management are the following:
  • Prepare interface program with the support of other package contractors Subsystems
  • Push contractors to provide an overall interface program
  • Monitor and assess progress of all Project Interface Works and Report progress / issues to the Employer.
  • Push to provide information and report status of all Package Interface Works to System Integration (and Employer).
  • Provide updates of External Interface Matrices
  • Push other Contractors to provide External Interface Items of their parts
  • Upload External Interface Matrices into interfaces database tool COMPLYPRO
  • Push other Contractors to upload Interface Matrices of their parts
  • Provide an updated Internal Interface Matrix
  • Upload Internal Interface Matrix into interfaces database tool
  • Submit Interface Matrices to Employer for approval
  • Internal Interfaces management (review, update data base, closing)
  • External Interfaces management (review, update data base, closing)
  • Assign tasks to Contractors / Subsystems: Interface description / diagrams, interface requirements definition
  • Contractors / Subsystems develop interface description / diagrams, interface requirements definition.
  • Transfer requirements to contractors / subsystems.
  • Contractors / subsystems provide evidences of compliance
  • Resolution of each pending issue regarding the interface,
  • Review of evidences
  • Update Interface Register
  • Issue Coordinated Interface Report
  • Monitor and assess progress of all Project Interface Works
  • Report progress / issues to the Employer
  • Organize integration resolution meetings
  • Review data entered into COMPLYPRO by Contractors.
Required Skills/Knowledge
  • Minimum 5 years? experience in System Engineering and Interface Management
  • Ability to acquire deep understanding of new technologies with minimal guidance
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas to peers, management, and customers in a simplified manner
  • Strong technical troubleshooting and problem solving abilities
  • Strong prior experience applying fundamental Systems Engineering concepts:
  • V-lifecycle,
  • System Architecture
  • Requirements Management,
  • Configuration Management,
  • Interface Management,
  • Extensive understanding and/or prior experience with engineering lifecycles, delivery, and HW/SW integration lifecycle
  • Deep competency in interactions between mechanical, electrical, and software components in complex electromechanical systems
  • Strong prior experience with Microsoft Office suite, requirements management systems, product lifecycle management systems, defect tracking tools, and software configuration tools
  • Competency in use COMPLYPRO tool
  • Success with multi-tasking across multiple projects at given time
  • Builds effective relationships and has exceptional communication and leadership skills
  • Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills
  • Prefer rail or rail transit domain experience, but not required
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, engage, and manage tasking of cross-functional teams of varying skills/experience
  • Prior experience collaborating with a diverse, cross-functional team across multiple geographic locations.
