Job Description

You as a Protection Commissioning engineer (Open) will be part of Hitachi Energy business based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. In this role, you will be responsible for substation control & protection system testing & commissioning for various projects. Act as the responsible commissioning engineer overseeing the installation and commissioning of substation control & protection system for assignments classified as of low commissioning complexity. Manage completion of all commissioning activities efficiently and cost-effectively and in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards, and safety requirementsYour Responsibilities

• Representing the commissioning function at project meetings and Commissioning review meetings.
• Implementing commissioning changes and the production of as built project documentation.
• Supporting continuous improvement of project process and product and system commissioning via provision of lessons learned feedback.
• Supporting project managers in issuing claims (new scope of work, cost impact, time impact, risk quantifications etc.).
• Creating work plans and cost estimates for work in own area of responsibility and proactively manages this work to deliver the agreed program on time, on quality and at targeted cost.
• Coordinating site activities focused on finalizing customer acceptance certification. Acting as the HITACHI ENERGY lead for commissioning activities on a project. Ensuring that HITACHI ENERGY is presented as a professional organization in all interactions with the customer.
• Managing external organizations providing commissioning with equipment, systems or services (e.g. issues permit to work, provides guidance on health and safety requirements and work practices, accepts as complete work done).
• Coaching associate commissioning engineers.
• Using agreed processes and procedures to ensure that all commissioning activities comply with the required safety regulations and satisfy contractual requirements.
• Managing a small Commissioning team.
• Preparing project documentation for SAT
• Obtaining approvals from utilities for Commissioning activities of Protection Systems (Main and Back up relays including scheme testing).

Your background

• A bachelors degree in relevant field.
• Testing and commissioning of Main and Backup protection relays with knowledge of communication protocols.
• Basic Knowledge of communication protocols like IEC61850, LON. IEC101-3, DNP etc.
• 2-5 years of proven experience in control and interlocking logics in substations and able to read schematic drawings and identify/locate mistakes.
• Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required.
