Job Purpose Qualified member and the senior most rating of the engine room on a merchant ship Responsible for maintenance and care of engine room equipment Supervises other ratings of the engine room to ensure performing to safe and approved procedures Performs a variety of tasks connected with the maintenance and repair of the engine room Job Specific Accountabilities (Part 1) Acts as the foreman of the unlicensed crew members of the engine department Plans, supervises, schedule, and assign works to engine ratings to ensure works are done in compliance to approved practices and operating procedures Maintains engine areas as well as executing formal preventive maintenance programs Regularly inspects equipment such as umps, turbines, distilling plants, and condensers, and prepares record of condition Lubricates and maintains machinery and equipment such as generators, steering systems, lifeboats, and sewage disposal systems Responsible for rigging, slinging, and operation of lifting gear in engine room Responsible for the cordage, and colours in the engine room Emergencies May be called upon to lead firefighting efforts or other emergency situations encountered on boardJob Specific Accountabilities (Part 2)Job Specific Accountabilities (Part 3)Generic AccountabilitiesPolicies, Systems, Processes & Procedures Implement and comply with all relevant functional policies, processes, systems, standards, procedures, to accomplish operational objectives.Training Provide on-the-job Training to meet Competency Based Training programs for UAE Nationalization.Innovation and Continuous Improvement Contribute to the identification of areas and opportunities for continuous improvement in the operating procedures and functional processes.Health, Safety, Environment (HSE) and Sustainability Comply with relevant HSE policies, procedures & controls and applicable legislation and sustainability guidelines in line with international standards, best practices and ADNOC Code of Practices.
