Job Description

As a Journalist in Abu Dhabi, UAE, you will be responsible for gathering, investigating, and presenting news stories to the public. You will work closely with editors, photographers, and other journalists to ensure accurate and engaging reporting. The ideal candidate for this role will have a passion for storytelling and a strong understanding of journalistic ethics and standards. This position requires excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as the ability to work under tight deadlines and in high-pressure situations.Responsibilities:

  1. Researching and gathering information for news stories through interviews, observation, and research.
  2. Writing, editing, and proofreading news articles, features, and other content for print, online, and broadcast.
  3. Conducting interviews with sources to gather information and verify facts.
  4. Attending press conferences, events, and other relevant activities to gather news and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
  5. Staying up-to-date with current events, trends, and developments in order to pitch and produce timely and relevant stories.
  6. Collaborating with photographers, videographers, and graphic designers to enhance storytelling through multimedia elements.
  7. Adhering to journalistic ethics and standards, including accuracy, fairness, and objectivity.
  8. Meeting deadlines and working efficiently in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
  9. Using social media platforms and other digital tools to distribute and promote news content.
  10. Building and maintaining a network of contacts and sources in various industries and sectors.
Preferred Candidate:
  1. Bachelors degree in Journalism, Communication, or a related field.
  2. 1-5 years of experience working as a journalist, preferably in a fast-paced news environment.
  3. Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a strong attention to detail.
  4. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, taking initiative and showing leadership when necessary.
  5. Strong research and investigative skills, with the ability to gather and analyze information from multiple sources.
  6. Knowledge of journalistic ethics and standards, including familiarity with media law and regulations.
  7. Experience working with multimedia elements, such as photography, video, and graphics, to enhance storytelling.
  8. Proficiency in using digital tools and platforms, including content management systems and social media.
  9. Ability to work under tight deadlines and in high-pressure situations while maintaining accuracy and quality.
  10. Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as news events dictate.
