Job Description

JOB PURPOSE: The job purpose is to manage the retail credit risk analytics function through leading activities pertaining to the development including calibration of credit risk models, viz., regulatory, non-regulatory and econometric models. The purpose is also to enhance modelling standard by introducing best of class techniques aligned with business expectations and regulatory requirements. Familiarizing business community of model and associated risks is an important part of this job. The job holder is also responsible to assist business functions in growth by providing insights using analytics.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: People Management

  • Manage the effective achievement of assigned objectives by setting of individual and team objectives, managing performance, developing and motivating staff to maximise team performance.
  • Lead the talent development initiatives for the assigned team, collaborating with technical/discipline experts and thereby ensure the availability of talent to fit business requirements.
  • Act as a role model and drive adherence to organisational values and ethics by employees of the assigned department to foster a value driven culture within the Group.
Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures
  • Manage and ensure effective implementation of retail credit risk functional policies, procedures and controls covering all areas of assigned department activity so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service.
Group wide Portfolio Analytics - Retail Risk Models
  • Provide specialist analytical views on the risk models and their use in the business, responsible to the business for ensuring that the suite of models is in place and fit for purpose.
  • Manage the development of and embed a robust, auditable and controllable framework for the development and implementation of all macro-economic forecasts and new-to-market retail credit risk models.
  • Manage the compliance to observations raised by audit, regulatory and internal validation teams.
  • Manage the accurate implementation of models, through providing comprehensive implementation specifications and guidance around UAT testing and approvals.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders within Group Risk to understand modelling requirements, and provide direction and oversight on model use to avoid any potential model risks/ adverse consequences from misusing.
  • Manage the process to ensure that model impacts are produced and understood, communicated as necessary to support committee recommendations and timely regulatory submissions.
  • Liaise with relevant risk and business teams to develop and review model performance, assumptions, theory and empirical evidence and propose required changes to senior management in order to implement improved credit risk models and enhance credit risk effectiveness.
  • Conduct studies on current risk management methodologies and make recommendations on risk management system enhancements, spearheading the research and integration of new products into the existing risk management system.
Team Supervision
  • Nurture team members to take on responsibilities with higher accountability and improve their skill sets.
  • Identify areas of delivery risk and pro-actively notify relevant stakeholders with suggested mitigates

  • Identify opportunities to leverage new systems, amend and update processes to deliver higher returns of efficiency, service etc. while maintaining compliance with the relevant policies.
  • Follow all relevant departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures, and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
  • Demonstrate compliance to organisations values and ethics at all times to support the establishment of a value driven culture within the bank.
Continuous Improvement
  • Contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement and sustainability of systems, processes and practices considering global standards, productivity improvement and cost reduction.
QualificationsMinimum Qualification
  • Post-Graduate in Business Management/Information technology. Relevant certification from GARP/CFA would be an advantage
Experience
  • Minimum 10+ years proven experience in banks of comparable in area of retail credit risk management
  • Proven experience in senior stakeholder management
  • Strong leadership ability and inter-personal skills
