Front End DeveloperTechnology � Abu Dhabi/Al Ain, Abu Dhabi Minimum ExperienceMid-levelFront End Developer Job Details Division Technology Reporting Manager Head of Engineering Job Location Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates Job Purpose As a ALEF Front-End developer youll have strong skills in web, API and want to work within multidisciplinary agile teams of developers, designers and researchers focused on products. Youll provide technical leadership, working closely with the wider team to ensure high quality code is delivered in line with the project goals and delivery cycles. Youll work closely with designers to deliver rapid prototypes as well as production code for which youll ensure high accessibility standards are upheld. We expect familiarity with modern frameworks and languages, as well as working practices such as Clean Code, TDD, BDD, continuous integration, continuous delivery, and DevOps. Key ResponsibilitiesUse markup languages to create user friendly web pages�� Maintain and improve website. �� Optimize applications for maximum speed. �� Design mobile-based features. �� Use markup languages to create user-friendly web pages. �� Follow Clean Code/Solid principles - Uncle Bob aka Robert C Martin. �� Understanding of TDD and BDD and experience of automated testing approaches to web services.Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders�� Collaborate with back-end developers and web designers to improve usability. �� Get feedback from, and build solutions for, users and customers. �� Write functional requirement documents and guides. �� Create quality mockups and prototypes. �� Help back-end developers with coding and troubleshooting. �� Assist in budgeting process.Delivery of high standard technological initiatives�� Ensure high quality graphic standards and brand consistency. �� Stay up to date on emerging technologies. �� Proactively advice on best practices. �� Act as a frontend lead on complex projects, providing support for product and delivery management and pragmatically weighing the complexities involved against the need to act. �� Deep knowledge of accessibility standards and developing web products that can be used easily by users with a range of assistive technology needs. �� Understanding of the use of Responsive Web Design. �� Knowledge of the git version control system. Education, Experience and Required Skills Education �� Bachelors degree in relevant field (Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related preferred) Experience �� Experience building user facing web applications and detailed knowledge of JavaScript, CSS and modern frontend frameworks, libraries and methodologies. �� Experience presenting work at user groups, business and to peers. �� Experience of prototyping and working closely with end users to iterate a product. �� Experience of designing and consuming REST APIs. �� Experience of building and scaling high-traffic websites. �� Experience mentoring or helping colleagues optimize their code. �� Detailed understanding and experience of front-end web development (HTML/CSS/JS, NodeJS). �� Understanding of and experience with a range of approaches to testing application code and systems for behaviour and performance (any of Selenium, Geb, Wiremock, Gatling, Sauce Labs). �� Experience working with UI and UX designers and translating designs to production code. �� Experience of working with JavaScript libraries. �� Experience building server-side web applications and ensure all software built is robust and scalable. Essential Skills Technical Skills Required (Insert Level of Expertise Here) �� Knowledge of relational and non-relational database systems. �� System administration and configuration management skills. JVM languages (Groovy, Scala, Clojure, Kotlin, etc). �� Mocking (any of the following Jasmine, Mocha). �� Build tools (Gulp, Npm, Grunt). �� NoSQL MongoDB. �� Outstanding ability to develop efficient, readable, highly optimized/maintainable and clear code. �� Working knowledge of unix-like operating systems such as Linux and/or Mac OS X. Leadership and Operational Skills Required �� Mentor and train other developers in a non-line management capacity. �� An ability to communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience. �� Ability to quickly research and learn new programming tools and techniques.
