Available and accessible for referrals and consultations from other disciplines, according to his or her interest and special experience.
Teaches and trains all medical staff in his or her section, on the basis of such patients and contributes to hospital symposia and meetings.
Oversees regular surgical audit of the patients within his or her care, and on the basis of this, organized prospective studies of the surgical topics of current importance in the department.
Encourage clinical research and investigation work within his group of trainees, with a view to publication in the surgical literature.
